Several weeks ago I was at the gym with my youngest son (out of my 4 sons, he has been going with me consistently and I am extremely proud of him) and there was a group of maybe 4 girls, in their late 20's early 30 tops. My son Jason said, "pops those girls keep staring at you". I don't really notice people in the gym once I am training as I get in the zone, so I just said, Jason focus man!
While my son was doing his set one of the girls approached me and asked me about my tattoo and what it represents, I said I have no idea I just know it is a Polynesian Tat and I like the way it looks, I didn't get it for any meaning. I thought the conversation was over, but she then said "Well it looks sexy on you" I said thanks.
When she walked away she said, by the way my friends all think you are hot and we refer to you as the "Sexy Grandpa" of the gymFck that was a rude awakening, I have never been referred to as Grandpa, the word alone is associated with so much negativity to me..
I think it is time for me to take off the beard

Beard is looking good now after that barber wrecked it a few weeks ago. I'd keep it, BH.
Yesterday at the store, a dude in his 20's with two little boys told me I looked like Macho Man Randy Savage as I was loading my stuff into my car (was wearing tank, bandana, and shades).
I told him more people his age need to know who the Macho Man was!

Dude my beard would have been much longer if it wasn't for that barber! I like the beard looking to have it really long by next summer, but now I have my doubts.
I trained with Macho Man one time at Midcity Gym on 49th street in Manhattan in the 90's. I asked him, dude you never stop talking like that? He started laughing. On the list for Bannukah

Embrace it my brother!
The white beard IS sexy and it proves what a stud you are for crushing people waay younger. And it obviously didn't deter the young ladies from mirin.
Grandpa is just a term. Shoot, you and I COULD have grandkids in their teens so w/e - it's just a word. :PIt's never too late!

You're approaching 60 not 16, time to stop worrying about what others think or say, wear and do what you want. If you like the beard, that is all that matters.
At the gym they call me big sexy, guess I don't look like a grandpa yetAir Force Veteran 1976 - 1999

Yup, it doesn't matter how great of shape you are in, gray hair (on head or beard) is always going to make you look significantly older. I don't have any gray on my head, but I do have a couple of gray streaks in my beard. I grow it and shave it pretty frequently, and I've gotten several comments that shaving the beard makes me look 10 years younger. I never got those kind of comments before it started turning gray.
It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.

I had blonde hair and beard when younger. It got a little darker in my 30s, but then got "blonder" again, so there was never a big transition. I have several colleagues whom I met when they were in their 40s and 50s and they have white hair and I'm surprised when I see old photos of them with jet black hair.
The top of my head has been thinning very gradually for about 30 years. Not much left now and I think it's time to call it done and shave my head, but my wife doesn't want me to totally give in yet.
I had a full beard when we got married and then for a number of years after. Went to the goatee and that's the way my wife likes it. Have grown out the beard a few times in winter. My wife said I looked like Santa Clause and I thought that was good because everyone loves Santa Claus, but she doesn't agree. Haven't been clean-shaven since 1983.Last edited by Gabbar99; 05-22-2022 at 04:53 AM.

You could be a grandpa and still in your 30's.
I had something similar happen when a woman in her early 20's meant it as a compliment, but I took it the same as you did. She said: "You look like Superman's dad"6'4" 204 lbs
