Yeah I'm in construction too as an assistant pm/coordinator. It's boring as ****, I hate all the paper work. I can't be a Superintendent though because they essentially have no life. Feel like I dun goofed coming into this field.

Yea, I work for a "prime" Contractor....basically we are the Managing Contractor/middle man between the Client and the subs actually doing the work.....nothing but reports and paperwork. I'm a Project Controller, so I literally live in Excel & P6....actually visit jobsites like once/quarter. It's better than what I was doing which was Banking/Finance.

I will say that a lot of them are total company men, yes men, and want to be slaves to the business. They think that being a business owner is the cream of the crop. Life is about work to them. I remember my buddy worked for a company and they had the whole crew there but only had to dig out this one area to install the pipe. Boss man said there will be no standing around and had the backhoe operator sit there while everyone grabbed shovels and had to manually dig. Had employers in my past try to get me to do things just to do them, because I was on the clock.

Most cringe of cringe. I remember working for this one company and sometimes I we had to make runs using the company van. They didn't need trackers or GPS on them. There were all these old men all over the county that would call the shop and let them know when they saw the van. I remember hearing the call ins when others were driving. "Hey Rob how's it going. I saw your company van on Vance Rd and jsut thought I'd call and let you know." Just used to come to the shop and hang out all day and shoot the chit with each other. Always thought they knew a lot. Want to talk about Bro Science? Most of those guys are dead now. I remenber one had cancer. I used to ask him how's his cancer growing. Really hated that old man.

He was upset that the garbage trucks can now be operated by a single guy and because they have an arm to pick up the garbage bins and dump them in the truck by itself, no need for a second guy to do it.
