As most of you guys who work out (I hope all of you do aftercall this is bodybuilding site) know, whenever a family or friend is moving they ask us, well because we have "muscles"
Well my BIL moved yesterday and believed me when I say yesterday I mean the whole day, we had to make a trip to a storage place, a trip to a dumpster and then a trip to his new place. We still have more stuff we still have to dump next weekend.
Anyway, while dumping/moving my BIL son (wo moved to Florida last week) left behind a lot of weights and a bench press, mots of it was the BS kind of weights with the small whole for the skinny short bar with the twist at the end. I don't like those kind of weights, however he did have to my surprise an Olympic 45lbs and four 45lbs plates which my BIL said I could have!
So yup, I now have 225lbs to start my home gym which by the way is almost completed. Below is a screenshot of the equipment I purchased.

The small hole plates and skinny bar with threaded ends are very useful, I use one.
they won’t flex when deadlifting which tests the start of dead lifting and the skinny bar itself is great for doing double overhand for high reps and targets the forearms. Plus the 50# small hole plates are smaller dia than 45s so that it useful for deficit dead lifts.
My skinny bar has held up with 400+ near 500 no problem

I helped a friend move over the weekend as well. I worked as a mover for cash on the weekends for 9 years while my kids were little. My only condition when I help a friend/family member move is everyone there needs to do what I tell them. Makes the job go twice as fast and way smoother.
Those are nice plates he gave you, BH. I have the same ones.Epic Beard Man crew

I worked for a couple moving companies and even had my own little gig moving college students with my truck when I was gung ho on paying off my house.
I learned so much from an old independent mover, I think 99% of people carry a dresser down/upstairs the wrong way.
Clothes are not that heavy so you don't need to unload them, leave the drawers in. Highboys just get tilted and one mover gets the legs and the other gets the top on the same side the other mover is holding. The mover walking backwards always calls the shots. For a long low dresser the low guy gets the feet, the high guy gets the top so no one is bent over.
Kinda miss the old moving days, guy I worked for was like 60 and had a chest like a bull, he could pick up a piano like a kid picking up a doll. That was 20 years ago and I saw him moving someone just a few years ago.Don't put that on me Ricky Bobby, don't you ever put that on me.

Yeah, I think we chatted about that in a different thread. The best movers I ever worked with were only around 170 pounds. Those guys always told me that I was one of the rare somewhat big guys that was adequate at the job. Most bigger football player types were clumsy/uncoordinated and lacked the conditioning needed to do the job all day long. I know some guys who have been in it for close 30 years as well. It can be a rough daily grind for sure. Most of the guys I worked with were big into alcohol and pills, which they probably relied on to ease physical pain and wear and tear on their body (or just to be able to get outta bed in the morning).
