What happened to this forum?

I used to surf this place from 2009-2012 and it was wayyyy more active. Place seems to have completely emptied out. Revisiting after nearly a decade. Anyone able to catch me up on what happened , besides the rise of social media?

Also I’m not 52. No idea why my profile says I’m 52.

So basically all the people who dont lift... who came here to socialize, or who want to show off their gainz to a wider group of subscribers....left. The turds in the big misc are still floating around over there because you cant really get away with that crap on mainstream social media while showing your face.

There was a period where the forum was over moderated as well. FLEX, a popular poster was permabanned for posting a picture of Winnie the Pooh.

There's a hidden section just for Moderators and even in that section there were Mods bullying other mods that didn't want to play the game. Fortunately the bad guys are gone, but we lost some good guys as well.

As you can see from my bodypoints, I've been around awhile, miss the old days.

Honestly it’s a breath of fresh air. The BB forums are still pretty active by today’s standard. Reddit and social media are so toxic for the mind. Being able to post at an actual “community” is refreshing.

Also just came back to the boards myself after a long hiatus.

I joined this community a couple of years ago and lost interest in browsing the general forums after a couple of weeks because 1) I didn't find the infos I was looking for and 2) people were (and probably still are) generally oaf, ignorant and aggressive.
This Over Age 35 forum is definitely better in terms of people's behaviour, but still... for a Calisthenics athlete there's not very much to learn/read/comment here.

Yup. I got caught up in the over-moderation, and just walked away from the site for a few years... It looks like one of the main causes of that drama is gone

Interesting coincidence I mistakenly clicked one a BB.com link today while cleaning out the bookmarks. And I was surprised my account hadn't been permabanned, hah!

that mod crap was one of the reasons i bailed. tried to come back a few different times over the years but there was so little activity.

This! There were some real NAZIS with too much power, locking threads, banning folks, just absolutely ruined the experience. I blame them fully.

Even now, the forum is just buggy and it’d be good to just start over with a free pro boards forum that doesn’t have a million sub forums.
