Eating high calories but hardly gaining

So I’m 18 years old 6’ 2” in height and weigh 90kg currently. For the last 3 weeks I have been trying to bulk starting at 4K calories then, 4.5k calories and now this week at 5k calories a day but have hardly put on anything maybe a couple hundred grams of body weight at the most. I walk a lot for work averaging 90 - 100k steps a week, could this be the main reason I have to consume so much or would it be something else?

If you are getting stronger maybe it doesn't matter.

The calories have to be going somewhere. If you didn't increase your activity, there is only so much extra your can burn off just by metabolic adaptation. Perhaps your body is adjusting by dropping water. So you might be gaining fat but don't realise it yet. In any case you don't need a large surplus to optimally gain muscle

you need to wait like 2 weeks before making any changes to your calories. eat X amount for 2 weeks, see what happens to your weight, then adjust based on that

when lean bulking, gaining 1.5-2 pounds per month is fine imo
