Anyone making any early predictions for the 2022 season?

Super hard to call it. Biggest changes we’ve seen in years and years. Anyone could now be very competitive.

But…as a Red Bull fan, I say Max is taking the Drivers Championship again and the team is taking the Constructors Championship.

I'm team Max but Lewis Hamilton was unreal last season. He overcame absolutely every odd you could stack against him in the Brazilian GP and he will not retire from any place other than #1. I think that Mercedes takes the constructors championship and the drivers championship is up for grabs.

I'm also predicting that Sainz takes 3rd in the drivers championship.

See sig. I have been Tifosi since the 80s and do not waver. I hope the gambles they've made with the car this year works out. They have the best looking car on the grid at least IMO. Alfa being second.

I'm glad to see Albon back in F1 again. I dunno why. He's just a likeable dude and deserves to be there more than some others. Also want Seb and Fred to continue to get good results this year.

I'm hoping Leclerc and Sainz go on better this year as I've followed both since the lower ranks. Have to admit the battles between Max and Lewis have been the best we've seen in over a decade though.

Won't know anything until after the first few races though. Every time there's been these massive changes in regs there's either one clear runaway (see Williams with active suspension, Brawn and then Merc in the new turbo era) or it's been a major clusterfcuk. I just hope these changes will bring the smaller teams closer to the front and tighter racing in general.

When I last looked into it, it was the SkySports feed (so Crofty, Brundle and the rest) commercial free, plus all the other content you get with F1TV Pro. I've just always used an 'alternate' streaming site that has a bunch of other racing as well ever since Sky/ITV went to a paid service and you couldn't just use a VPN to watch.

I use the F1 app and watch it on TV using a Roku stick. No commercials. All races, all qualifying, plus lots of side shows and behind the scenes type stuff. I love it. Only like $10 a month I think.

Eh, Lewis had some good drives but he had a lot of decisions go his way that absolutely shouldn’t have have.
Max should have had the Championship locked up before Abu Dhabi if not for that.
Not to mention Merc had a couple races where they absolutely had some sketchy, if not illegal, things going on with that wing.

I'd love to see Ferrari back up there challenging again

Yeah, it used to be easier to tell. The old rule was that when Ferrari was putting out stellar cars, the F1 team suffered and vice versa. A lot of the engineers were doing double duty between production cars and the race team so when their focus was on the road cars, the F1 team sucked. Mediocre cars = F1 Championships.

80s-late 90s - F355, F40 and the F50 and Testarossa to some extent, F1 team mid-field
99-late 2000s - 8 Constructors and 6 Drivers Championships.
2009 - The 459 Italia comes out, LaFerrari, then the 488 and so on. No titles. WCC 2nds, 3rds, 4ths and a 6th.

Always hopeful.

Rumor has it Haas will announce very soon that he’s not driving for them this season.

All but confirmed by Haas that Fittipaldi is in. Again, a lot of other drivers that are more deserving but this was pretty much Haas' only choice.

And it’s official: Haas has dropped both Mazepin AND Uralkali as their sponsor.

Not sure what the next step is for them, how they make it through the season, etc without the cash flow. Maybe Gene will just say fk it and chit the money to make it through the season? Or pick up a new sponsor last minute.

He drove the absolute **** out of that Red Bull car all season long.

But like I said - last race aside, Max still deserved to be World Champion.

FIA fired Massi to appease Mercedes. Period. Nothing more. Which just shows yet again that they clearly hold too much power over the FIA. There's absolutely nothing in the rule book that says what Massi did was wrong in any way. The rules say that in that situation the race director is free to use his discretion on how to handle things.

I was so surprised by this, but at the same time, it's very cool to see him back at Haas. I will be very curious to see how Mick performs along side him. Mazepin wasn't really a good benchmark to use to gauge Mick's overall performance.

Egg-****ing-xactly. People complaining about who had the better car - go watch Indy car racing then. F1 has always been about which constructor can make the better car, which driver can beat the **** out of it, and STRATEGY (as bolded above).

Max definitely deserved a title after how he drive all season but he will always have a stained championship because of Masi. There's a reason Masi isn't with us. Red Bull had the better strategy at the beginning to mid of the season and Mercedes dominated the strategy towards the end. Maybe dominated isn't the right word because they sacrificed Bottas for it lmao.

And lol at haters of the goat. We're in the era of the Michael Jordan of Formula 1. Jordan had haters and obviously so does Hamilton but come on guys. Getting into Formula 1, he was everything the status quo driver was not yet he still got in. Wasn't filthy rich like everyone else so he wasn't a pay driver. Not white like everyone else, and lets be real, early 2000s that made things harder. Definitely hungrier than most other drivers. He Fought Alonso. Fought Kimi. Fought Vettel. Fought Rosberg. Fought Verstappen. He has proven himself as a driver over and over again since his rookie year yet people still hate? LMAO. Normal drivers don't become World Champion. Normal World Champions don't become World Champions 7 times. There's a mindset that comes with that

Mercedes didn't **** up their strat. Their goal was WCC. WCC > WDC to a constructor. One was a guarantee if they stayed out the other was a maybe. I don't even know where to start with the Masi thing. There are articles all over the place explaining why he ****ed up. Either all cars lap, or none lap. He affected all the other drivers in the line up for spicy tv drama. FIA fired Massi for more than one thing and on the top of the list, probably, was his inconsistency. He wasn't cut out for his position. And thats okay, as long as he was removed

How about that new Mercedes car? Basically no side pods and a whole new cooling system. They either hit it big or fked up big time. If it's a home run, I'm sure pretty much everyone is going to protest the legality. No one is going to go for another boring Mercedes dominant season literally the first season the FIA puts everything they can possibly think of in play to make the racing more level and entertaining to watch.

I would agree IF he wasn't so dominant before going to Merc. I mean he came out in his rookie season and beat the defending champ Alonso and only lost the entire F1 championship by 1 point to Kimi.

Like it was before said- would you rather the cars be like Indy cars where no one can make changes? This is what makes this season so interesting for mercedes imo. Will Hamilton teach Russels the way of a champion or be ruthless like he was with Rosberg.

People see that Russel mercedes performance and think the car is what gave Russell those powers. People who know Russells history know it wasn't just the car but his ability. Otherwise Bottas would be giving Hamilton issues. Imo, Russell is a Verstappen without the aggression.

Brah half the time the team literally flat out told Bottas not to win.

On top of that, Bottas himself came out towards the end of last season and said that he only recently learned there were things between his car and Lewis’ that flat out were not the same performance wise.
Bottas was never given the same shot on many levels that Lewis was.
