lol @ noobs considering going in blind thinking you can gitgud, praise the sun brothers and good luck. See ya as ghosts in the battlefield.
It won't have the depth of Skyrim as an RPG, Souls games are slow paced and require patience and resilience, you'll die... a lot... very different from a shooter like warzone... also they don't giveaway much story in the same way other games do, since you didn't like the design either I'd say try before buy If you can, otherwise skip.

This will be nothing like skyrim. To me, most of these Souls games focus on tight gameplay, unforgiving difficulty, boss fights and atmosphere. Story elements aren't outright explained, there's not much dialog and talking in these games. It's a grim, dark world and you will have to piece together most of the story yourself from small bits. I think Elden Ring has supposedly improved on story elements compared to previous entries though, due to the author GRRM...so maybe things will be better explained in this game.
And yes, you will die alot. I can't imagine how many people pick up a Souls game and quit after half hour due to difficulty. However, to those gamers who are obsessed with winning, when they finally figure out that one boss and fuk him up, there are few moments in gaming that match that feeling of excitement and accomplishment.
Can I ask what system you're on? My gut tells me that if you didn't like that 20 min walkthrough then you wouldn't like this type of game.▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩۞۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Not something you just play bruh. It's a niche genre for hardcore gamers who have the time and patience to keep dying at the same things a million times. I don't like it but I'm trying to get into it because so many games now are trying this formula of being hard as fuk for no reason.

You should probably consider going dark after today. Tomorrow at 9am the reviews drop and if you want to go completely blind you should avoid them at all cost.
I don't play completely blind. Like after I finish an area I'll look up the wiki to make sure I didn't miss any important stuff or if a boss is completely destroying me I'll look up their weaknesses and strats to beat them so I'll be watching all of them lol6'2"

I'm the total opposite and I can't play that way at all. I like to figure things out on my own in an organic way. If I'm losing against a boss, I'll keep going at it until I figure it out. Feels so much more satisfying for me that way. Also, in terms of finding items and discoveries, I like to explore and uncover things on my own.
To be fair, I've never platted a game and don't intend to. Most plats I've seen require reading instructions on what to do and just grinding a thing or a few things out and that's not fun for me.
In Elden I haven't seen a single boss fight, besides half a minute with a dragon thing. And just small bits of you on the mount running and jumping around. I might check out a video explaining the lore before I play but that's about it.▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩۞۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

I'm a completionist. I try to find to find all the stuff on my own but Demon's Souls broke me of that. Have you played it? If not, look up the requirements to upgrade boss souls into a weapon. There is no way on earth I would've been able to figure that out without a guide. Same thing for the lord of hollows ending on DS3. I've done everything in all of the souls games you can do that doesn't require PvP except beat Midir (I'll do it one day).
Sidenote: I started a DS3 run on Saturday to warm up for Elden Ring and did a strength build. My past several runs have been casters of some sort and holy chit is it so much easier this way. I've only died to one boss so far and that was the Crystal Sage lol. I've been destroying everything with a heavy infused claymore and a heavy infused greataxe. Aldritch is the next boss though and he's usually the toughest boss in the game for me (when I'm not using pyro) so we'll see how it goes with himLast edited by TBO1313; 02-22-2022 at 11:26 AM.

Sekiro combat is wildly different from all the others. I tried Sekiro but the combat just wasn't for me. After I get tired with Elden Ring I'll go back and give it another chance. I like games where I can customize my character's skills and abilities and Sekiro just doesn't have that

Looks like a new trailer. I haven’t seen it before and said it was 6 hours ago on YouTube. Looks incredible

Gotcha. I get that line of thinking but if it's something i need a guide to figure out, I rather not bother doing it myself. After I thoroughly beat the game I might look up some vids on ultimate builds or hidden bosses or whatever.
In fact that's the only thing I MAY look up a "guide" on is how to find a super cool optional boss I missed. Won't look up how to fight it, just how to find. Totally get your way of playing though but the completionist mindset ruins the fun for me. Guess it just goes back to how I played games before all the online guides n chit.
If I get all my final ps4 stuff out of the way before my ps5 is here, I'll do a DS3 run.▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩۞۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
