As many of you know I am a NYer 100%. Born in Brooklyn, moved to the Bronx at 1 years old and lived here all my life. never lived anywhere else. In my 57 years here in NY, from my teens to an adult I have seen NY at it's worst and at it's finest.
With that said NY it's at is worst EVER, I have seen shoot outs, drive-by's. robberies etc., however I have never seen it happening this frequent and in broad day light time and time again. There is no street code, no ethics, these people have no regards for anyone or anything. The mayor is saying it is a gun problem and I agree there are way too many illegal guns in the streets and easily attainable, but I also see there is no consequences behind these acts. People get arrested and are back in the streets the next day.
Again I am not saying this stuff wasn't happening before, hell I was part of the stupidity, but never EVER the way it is happening now. I don't know what the answer is, nor how this can be fixed, but way too many innocent people are losing their lives, being robbed and beaten. Also the amount of cops that have been shot here in NY is crazy.

This is a big factor, with that many people committing gun crimes, prison is no longer a deterrent because you can't house them all and they are out quick.
Open some cells up by letting lesser crimes out. Some states still have people in prison for weed ffs.
Mandatory hard labor for any gun crime..fukkers on a chain gang clearing ditches in a stripped suit in 110 degree weather would be a deterrent.
Although this is whats needed you'll never see that this day and age, too many pussies around for that.
Everywhere has gotten worse, not to the degree that you describe, but even smaller areas are seeing an increase in crime, a lot of it has to do with the criminal element and gangs moving into more areas and it's fuelled by harder drugsLast edited by mtpockets; 02-07-2022 at 01:48 PM.

It happens in small towns too, like mine. Pop 8500. Some lady broke into my truck and stole my drivers license and credit card. She was apprehended with several stolen credit cards and spent about a week in jail. They let her go, but she didn't show up for court. Failure to Appear. They caught her, put her in jail for a week and let her go. She didn't show up for court again. Failure to Appear X2.

I've heard that the police aren't as vigilant either. Fewer "interactions" with the public = fewer opportunities to have your actions (which are almost certainly being videotaped by multiple phones) misconstrued.
John, I've heard that law enforcement has really taken a blind eye to shoplifting
To Paulinkansas, in the Fall of 1984 in a college public speaking class a guy brought a shotgun to class because we all had to give a 5 minute speech and his was on "how to clean your shotgun." That would be unheard of today.Pull-Up PR: https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=177233951

@BH
Just had a buddy who grew up in NYC tell me the same exact thing. He was up there a few weeks ago, and said it has gotten bad. He said you can see it in the graffiti and the way the streets are. He is in his 50's and said he fears it has gone way down hill. Sounds like his feelings were right. Sad...RAW lifts

Here's a couple songs that mention murders in NYC:
That was 31 years ago.
That was 42 years ago.
I think as we age we just get less tolerant to crime.
I agree though about the "suspects" in violent crimes getting released the next day. I think the legislation and the idea behind it were sound, but it's not working if it's not deterring the worst offenders.Don't put that on me Ricky Bobby, don't you ever put that on me.

It will get worse nationwide. Big cities are far worse than small town for sure, but small towns are NOT immune.
Many big city people who have left for small town bring their ideologies with them, unfortunately. So the cancerous statist mindset of relying on gubmint grows like a bad case of chlamydia in a frat house.
I refuse to use the terms liberal or conservatives anymore. Leftists are not true liberals. Both are guilty of gubmint nuthuggery, which is why america is in its current condition.
At any rate, I know I have said this before John, but being a New Yorker yourself you are the exception as you embrace traditionalist values. If you ever decide to move to a red state or red town, people will accept you.
In the meantime, we see the breakup of the empire. It has to happen. There is no reversing this rectal cancer. This above all..
To thine ownself be true..
And it must follow, as the night the day..
Thou can'st not then be false to any man..

So we had this talk a month or 2 ago because i asked you your take as a native, and i am really sad to see that it has not changed for the better.
There is an unspoken thing, we are iron brothers and sisters, we are to support each other and...It is our duty to support our brothers and sisters in the iron game!

Crime has changed but check out this vid, just one tale of murder from the old mob generation and listen how they picked random people to use as test subjects at the lounge.

Maybe one day I'll get you on the phone put it on speaker and let you hear how adamant she is about staying here in the Bronx. As you are aware (or I think you are) all her sisters and her only brother all live here and that is her main deciding factor. Two of her sisters passed away, 1. getting hit by a car and the other from a heart attack, she said she would never forgive herself if she was not here.
My argument to her is, we are all going to pass away, where we live is not going to change that or prevent it. We can visit as many times as she wants and she says, you know that is not realistic, traveling too often can become a burden. On the list for Bannukah

Population: 9,457
Rank Last Year: 1 (No Change)
Median Home Value: $55,800
Unemployment Rate: 6.0%
More on Coffeyville: Data | Photos
When you’re looking at science and data, Coffeyville is the worst place you can live in the state of Kansas — an improvement from last year when it ranked #1 overall. Let’s see why.
First off, the crime here is really high, in comparison to the rest of Kansas. Coffeyville is the 14th most dangerous place you can live in the state, where you have a 1 in 29.1 chance of being the victim of some type of property crime. Meaning lots of people are getting robbed here.
Homes here average $55,800, which is the lowest in the state. You can defend ‘cheap living’ all you want, but the fact is, homes are priced by demand, and there’s not a lot of demand to live in Coffeyville.
Income levels are just about $33,750, the lowest in Kansas. Plus, you’re way out in the middle of nowhere, so your options for entertainment are the same places you frequent every week or, a short drive to Independence. Does that sound like a blast?Current rankings

The answer to this for you is to leave. The answer to this for society is to stay and fight. Fight the leftist politicians and criminals. This won't happen, at least not until it's too late.
No need for more gun laws. But, politicians think they look good by passing more useless gun laws.
Enforce existing laws and punish offenders. This won't happen because of the public and private sectors caving in to movements like BLM and Antifa. Media fed the cave in and will continue to do so.Envy is ignorance. Imitation is suicide.

The root of violent crime is drugs. You take away guns but the person on a drug craze will just use a knife.
Gone are the days of scaring kids regarding drugs, remember the 80s The Crime Dog and this is your brain on drugs. Colleges actually say that message is false, well it actually kept me away from drugs.
The war on drugs will NEVER end but that’s no reason to stop fighting it, this is the result from stopping the drug war.......
