I have been following BB.com from 2008. I believe it's the biggest BB forum online. I think it was at its peak around 2010 with legend's like Serge Nubret posting here
Now I'm back a decade later and this forum seems to be dead?
What happened?

Yeah he began posting about mid-2009, gave lots of good advice, and shared a lot of experience.
Then he stopped posting for a month... And then suddenly put up this creepy post. I remember the exact words,
"My children have poisoned me, they want to kill me and take my money. I'm in hospital. Please help!"
That was his last post here... A few days later there was news of his death

It might not be quite so dead were it not literally inundated with spam. Most of the sub-forums aren't worth the time it takes to wade through the spam to find actual worthwhile content.
"Looks like they need some sheriffs," I thought. "Hey, here's a moderator application page." Look at the requirements. "Oh. Nevermind, then."
Then I notice each sub-forum allegedly has literally dozens of moderators, already? Really? I realize these are unpaid volunteer roles, but, if they're not actually going to, you know, moderate, why are they still moderators?
Meanwhile, when I tried to post to the "Look What I Bought Today" thread a couple photos of past and recent home gym acquisitions, I found I had to have 50 posts before I could post links to photos or any other hyperlinks.
Srsly?
It ain't all because of social media. I belong to a number of special-interest forums. (In one of which I am a moderator.) They get reams of daily, on-topic, useful traffic.
They're well-run, though.
