How would you and others react to seeing my old self harm scars at the gym?

My upper left/right arm and lower left arm have alot of self harm scars from long ago. Most are white, some are pink.

I would prefer to wear vests now that my body has reached its pre lockdown size again.



How will the majority of people at the gym react to seeing such scars?

What would you think if you saw them?



Obviously what people think is what's making me a it nervous as very few people know anything about this.

Most people will be focusing on their own workouts. They will not care at all and if there is anybody that does think something about it then it has nothing to do with them and you shouldn't care either. Last thing I care about in the gym is other people's appearance

Most won't notice.
A few. Mostly experienced with that will notice and understand and think its cool that you seem past it given the training to improve yourself etc.

I have scars similar to you, I've only ever had one person say anything - "you've been there too huh?" - other than that not a word. As said most are focused on their own workout, I know I am!

I have multiple scars on my arms and chest from shrapnel, I don't worry about it, neither should you.

Any time I see someone in the gym giving it a solid effort, I respect them. If I knew them all personally I'd probably get all judgemental about most of them for some arcane reason or another. Not saying that because I'm proud of it, just being honest.

Go work out, don't be ashamed of the scars. If you aren't harming yourself anymore, they are your sign of victory over that darkness and a good reminder that victory and defeat are both obtained one decision at a time.
