    Carnivore Diet

Im going to do the carnivore diet and commit to it for at least one week starting Saturday. I just like to switch things up and try new things. In the past when iv run carbs very low i really leaned out. Any suggestions for anyone that has done this before?

Prepare to waste a week for no reason

Youโ€™re wasting your money. And meat is more expensive and harder to find now.

Fruits, vegetables, and whole grains all have many health-promoting properties so I do not know why the carnivore diet has seemed to become so popular, at least in the fitness world. With low carbs you will lose several pounds of water weight in a couple days so you will seem leaner. Otherwise leaning out results from a caloric deficit.

From my experiences of just generally going low carb in the past i think its easier to stay in a deficit, think you get less cravings. Carbs are tasty as hell once you decide its not an option its easier to eat less. plus the thermal effect of food. The way I see it it is fat can turn into fat the fastest because wll its already fat... lol... carbs second, protein last

not saying its a "healthy" diet or ideal but for someone who wants to lean out (not just the obvious water weight) deciding im just not gonna east carbs has a high adherence...

If that's the rationale then why not just do a healthier version of a ketogenic diet?

thats a good question but less volume of food becuase KETO wants you to have like 70% fat, at 9calories per gram thats a lot less food volume. I mean ill still east eggs, is that really carnivore exactly, so its modified.

I have done this and the results are both positive and negative for me:

1- I often felt hungry or like I was missing something within an hour of the last meal.
2- I lost motivation to train as gradually stuff seemed heavier and workouts became a grind even with plenty of calories
3- cramps and strains, this type of eating can dehydrate you.
    4- feeling colderโ€ฆboth a plus and a negative
5- always lost weight even with 3000 plus cals a day but unlike others I was always eating 5-6 times daily, huge amounts of protein
6- when I added carbs back in, all those negatives went awayโ€ฆ

I had some better training with โ€œthe anabolic dietโ€ that allowed for carb loading on weekendsโ€ฆ

Itโ€™s effective, just tough, takes disciplineโ€ฆyes, helps control insulin, but for muscle growth, insulin is actually a good thing.

Yeah your right, i know my strength will go down while on this diet but it comes right back when you add in carbs. My plan would be to do more feeder type pump workouts so i dont have to get mind ****ed with watching my strength go down. only only committing for a week and will reassess. I know about 2 years ago i did basically this and get shredded. Im like a legit 10% and to get absolutely shredded its hard. I gotta do hard **** like this is the way i see it. It works. Its not JUST water weight...

Tried it for a week during the covid lockdown. Lost like 8 lbs. Only ate meat and fats. It was pretty hard honestly. I was craving carbs. It gave me diarrhea which is normal at the beginning as ur body adjust. But can confirm it was legit for losing weight but just lil extreme for me.

I crave meat/fat much more than carbs per se when hungry, so from an appetite management standpoint, I can understand the motive, but since actual fat loss is a matter of calories, and eliminating fruits and vegetables entirely is pretty much indisputably a bad idea, why not just eat a balanced diet and count your calories while emphasizing meat?

Let me add some positives of this diet

1- energy burst. Not sure if itโ€™s just greater absorption of caffeine or the ketonesโ€ฆ.For awhile I was like a different person, just supercharged. But the body adapts over time and it wears off.

2- skin never looked better. Hair did thin however.

3- definitely lost weight even though I ate a tonโ€ฆI mean really, itโ€™d be HARD to gain weight eating just protein and fatโ€ฆthe insulin is the reason why itโ€™s NOT just calories alone, hormone manipulation is absolutely 100% part of it, particularly for the pre diabetes folks out there. This will change your blood lipid profile for the better.

4- the easy part is thisโ€ฆeggs, meat, fish, cheese, fats, some greensโ€ฆbut boring in that way.

greens are not part of the carnivore dietโ€ฆ.

why do you want to be 7% I donโ€™t think you realize how lean that is or how unhealthy
True, yes, and I rarely ate themโ€ฆwas thinking cavemanโ€ฆ.or Atkins or ketoโ€ฆetcโ€ฆcarnivore is meatโ€ฆdid that for many weeks, did all that stuff, it all worked well but there are pros and cons. For me, it just didnโ€™t fit my strength goals.

Try the pea diet if leaning out is all that matters.

You'll accomplish zero. Try a balanced diet and a consistent weekly calorie deficit and forget about these fad diets.

Meat is very important in the diet, but as many here have said, you have much more to lose than to gain with an exclusively carnivore diet.
You will end up with a huge food expense, an unbalanced diet, and a major constipation.
    You should really vary.

Meat is not โ€˜importantโ€™โ€ฆ. Ever heard of vegetarians and vegans ?

I highly doubt that, but open to seeing proof.

For example, what do you think I am in my avi? I'm no where near 7% for example... so, if you're claiming to have been 8%, I hope you're leaner than I appear in that image.

For what reason? I mean... being below 10% bodyfat offers no performance or health benefit at all, and in fact can actually hurt you in terms of those variables to a significant degree.

I don't really rely on things like DEXA tho... too many chances for results to be skewed... many people who test leaner or less lean than they appear, etc...
