Is it normal for there to be a gap between your wrist wraps and your arms?

I have two pairs of 18" Rip Toned wrist wraps, one called "stiff" and the other called "less stiff". I use the less stiff ones for squats. They wrap around my wrists snugly. But for the stiff ones, there is like a 1/2" gap between them and my forearm above my wrists, even if I pull them tight:

Is this normal? I want to buy a better quality pair, but I am worried there will also be a gap. The reason I haven't gotten a good pair yet is because there is always a backlog of 1-2 months. What should I do? And which brand should I order? I only use them for low bar squats, with my 1RM being only 255 lb. or so. I loosen them after each set, and squat twice a week.
