Hi Everyone, I am currently getting back into exercise and have lost over 30kgs, which in retrospect is still not a lot compared to my long-term goal of 80. I have hit a roadblock and would like to see if anyone else has had this, I have strained my serratus a week and a half ago and it's still not feeling 100% and I was wondering if anyone has any advice on commencing training again with this injury and potentially rehabbing it or is this a no-no. Obviously, at my size, motivation is not an easy thing and I am worried that extended periods out will affect my progress. Thanks.
yes, you should get back to gym. Generally, and in the future, do not stop training unless injury prevents you from physically getting up the couch or walking between the exercise machines. Anything else, you can isolate injured muscle and train everything else. Play with angles and ranges of motion and find the way to do certain exercises where it does not hurt.
Also, at some point, while your injury is not 100%, it is okay to gently load the injured muscle to prevent it from forming dysfunctional scarring tissue.
