Spam Calls

So, I receive 10 to 20 spam calls per day for insurance. Today, I started to answer with the following:

"This is the Federal Bureau of Investigation. You are on a recorded line and I have your number. How can I help you?"

So far, three have hung up with no comment after no more than 5 seconds.


By the way, I found a childhood pic of Cassie the Sassie Girl. I think she still has this costume.



I think it's cute. Not sure if it's a baby chicken or baby duck, but it doesn't matter.

My Dad was getting calls like that all the time, at one point he just unplugged the land line unless it was while my Sister was out of town with her husband and their daughter for their Disneyworld trip. I started answering when ever I could and made it sound like I was working and answering for a store. The confusion on the other end of the line was comical. Won’t be happening any more though, Dad killed the land line last week after 42 years.

That’s how we have to counter them because nothing is going to stop the calls.

Is this a land line Marky or cell phone? I wonder what the ROI is for these companies who spam. Does anyone ever sign up?? People still have landlines??

I dont answer the landline anymore unless I am expecting a call at a specific pre arranged time. We only have it for my wife`s business so her customers can leave messages, once she is done...next year, than we are ditching it. 98% of the time between 3 and 7pm its spam.

Lately, I have answered these calls for chits and giggles. So when I'm speaking to officer John Smith (who always has an East Indian accent) of the "Canadian Police" (no such agency) and he asks me my name, I tell him it is Kit Boga.
He usually gets upset and calls me names. I then ask him what the weather is like in Calicut (a center city for scam operations) or how he lives with himself scamming old people for a living.
This never goes well and I either get sworn at more in a foreign language or the call is terminated by them. I thoroughly enjoy these conversations.

Cellphone. A lot of calls originate from India. I dumped my landline years ago

I did enjoy a prank or two in the past. During the "IRS" scam period I answered in my Punjabi accent which lead to mostly hangups but one caller started laughing so hard he couldn't talk for a minute and then started saying "Oh My God" over and over in his Delhi accent.
Fun times.
