I have a feeling that they are desperately terrified of the opposite being true as well. I suspect that Omicron because it is so different produces much more diverse antibodies if you recover from it naturally resulting in superior long term protection. Combine that with the far lighter symptoms and we could be looking at a Cowpox situation.
