    Calgary Barbell 16 week clarification

When it comes to this program I know some workouts you follow RPE and others you follow %. Well, what do you do on lifts where nothing is listed at all?

Here is an example of day one that I ran today. Squat and bench loads are given. The three that follow weren't at all. How do I program these as far as load? I treated them like 8 RPE sets.

I’d just pick a weight that lets you get the pre-requisite amount of reps.

Thanks for the input. I've never used a program that messed with RPE, so I'm sitting here wondering what's going on at times while trying to piece together some of the info I've found. Probably just overthinking it.

They're basically accessories so it doesn't matter a whole lot, but if I'm comparing accessories to the 8 week program template which I ran last year, probably somewhere in the 8 RPE range, or 2 reps short of failure would be consistent with their other programs accessories

    Good luck bro!!

    *edit*
Also, like BG said, whatever weight you need to get the reps in also works, if you go to failure for the sets probably doesn't matter a whole lot because they're just accessories and some weeks are accessory heavy, and other weeks focus more on the main lifts. I wouldn't really overthink it. Just do whatever feels good for you, and if you're over fatigued, then take it easy on the accessories.

Around 8 RPE is good. Those lifts are accessories (as Camaro said), so there's no need to gauge them strictly.

Also, that's the first block of the program, and it's a volume block. Going almost to failure wouldn't much impact your main Big 3 lifts in that block. Later, in the "strength" blocks (higher percentages of max), you'd want to be more conservative with accessories so as to not overly fatigue yourself for the long haul.
