I'm still wondering who all got their vaccine in the nut section. Mine was in my shoulder.

I suppose the location matters too, I mean there were times were supplies were lower but I never ran out even with my existing stuff I had on hand.

For Omicron, it’s sounding like the symptoms being so much less severe might make people act more reasonably

I also feel people who would panic and stock up probably already got their boosters or vaccinated. Hopefully they won’t feel the need to buy a bunch of crap because they feel protected.

I had a ton of tampons, but I figured after 3-4 months I would be able to find more easily and that was not the case

The pharmacy also ran low consistently on my script and I would drive like over an hour to get it somewhere else. Idk why that happened. I think people started filling scripts at three months at a time?

they see the words "more contagious" and it's a free trip back to panic island, doesn't matter how mild the symptoms are at this point

about the booster thing: if it gets to the point where the variants are so mild that there's literally zero logic in mandating anything (not that it's completely fine even now), i hope all the world's governments will actually "exit the game" instead of going on with it. correct me if i'm wrong, but they don't "need" to give their powers away and they can keep justifying it with all kinds of things

not to go on a tangent here, but in finland the situation is fine, except that we were promised like 1000 ICU spots last year and now they're nowhere to be seen. there are like 50(?) ICU spots for covid patients and the media keeps screaming how healthcare is close to collapsing and everyone needs to get vaccinated. if the reason to get vaccinated (in finland) is now only to save ICU spots, i'm not sure why it's my responsibility when most of the ICU spots are "hogged" by old, obese or otherwise unhealthy people and the statistical probability for me to need ICU stuff is basically zero. fun fact: we just donated some ventilators to latvia and took some covid patients from estonia too

    Interesting!

The few things I do now consistently keep at least a 3 month supply of are Vitamin D3, Omega 3, zinc, magnesium, quercetin, and I also have a 12 month supply of NAC

Math is math. Doesn't matter who does it, so long as it's correct. Had my college girl double check it, as of course I thought I had miscalculated, being what I ended up with and all.

Then can you link me to the individual sources of these data points?

You claimed that even in people with ALL 5 co-morbidities the survival rate is over 99.8%... that's a bold claim I have never seen before anywhere.

Even still, dying isn't the only concern. What about time away from work, family, hospital costs, long-term damage... just 'not dying' doesn't mean it doesn't suck massively.

FYI, Johns Hopkins doesn't align with your statements: https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/data/mortality

And those numbers are for ALL demographics, not just the highest risks ones like you singled out

Similar here in Thailand. Small disruptions and inconveniences, but otherwise it required only minor adjustments. The worst effect has been on the economy. Thailand relies heavily on tourist income, and they lost all that for almost 2 years. Vast majority of shops are private or family owned, so they shut down, while company chains could stay afloat. Thailand has just recently opened to tourists with strict screening, seems like an experiment but also seems to be working slowly.

The TP thing was bizarre to see. I remember reading a USA friend's email complaining passionately about hoarders while I walked past walls of stocked TP in the Tesco Lotus. TP, and the big mask revolt, as if that was the most important thing ever seen on planet earth. Funny and sad at the same time, that a country respected around the world would fight about masks.

You can calculate risk here: https://qcovid.org/Calculation/

Random example: a 30 year old obese guy, white, non vaccinated, with a large amount of risk factors (all sorts of health problems).

Risk of dying from COVID-19 following a positive test result: 6.7010%

Obviously the number can get lower or higher if you select different variables.

    My results:

Risk of catching and dying from COVID-19 0.0026% 1 in 38,462

Let's have a contest. Who has the most and least chances of dying from covid.

Where I live, PLENTY of people drive with masks on. Even when driving alone. One can never be too careful in a navy town.

Maybe the context of what I posted wasn't clear. Someone else said that the risk of dying from covid for someone with all 5 risk factors was less than 0.2%.
