    My experience with Covid

Alright brahs. Been a while since I've been on. My phone decided it didn't like the misc and kept giving me errors. New phone so I'm back

Got the Rona last month. Not vaccinated. Ended up in the hospital for 2 days. I turned 39 the day after I got released, not super fit but at my age, probably top 20%. 6'3" 235 at time of infection.

When I got into the hospital, they triaged 8 of us who were covid positive in a separated waiting area. We all got to talking and it turned out 4 we're vaccinated, 4 not. One guy said his fully vaccinated dad died a couple weeks prior from it.

My wife had jab #1 the weekend before we both caught it. She had a very minor head cold. Then she got jab #2 and had a severe allergic reaction that she's still dealing with 12 days later. Kids never caught it.

I got sick Oct 15th and I still have effects. My resting heart rate is 110. I was on oxygen for 2 weeks after getting out of the hospital but my pulse ox can now stay in the low 90s on its own. My BP was like 90/60 but that's normalized now too. Got down 15lbs, gained 5 back. Lost taste and smell. Taste is mostly back, I can currently smell 2 things, my wife's hand lotion and chocolate.

My mom's cousin got both jabs ,and the booster. After the booster his hands swelled up so badly he can't use them. Goes to a specialist this week to see if they have to be amputated. With him and my wife, doctors don't know how to treat because nothing is known as to what mechanism is actually happening with the jab.

    Cliffs:
-Rona kicked my azz, still having cardio effects
-wife had it very mildly after 1st jab, bad reaction to 2nd jab
    - I'm still not getting the jab because of what my wife is dealing with and my mom's cousin might lose his hands after the booster shot
-fuk anyone who gets their kids the jab since there is zero known about the effect of the jab on developing children or fertility as adults

Thank you for sharing your experience. Hope you get back to 100% soon.

I am annoyed with the complacent sense of conclusivity many in high places have about the vaccine, when stories like this are anecdotally common, and there is no way any data on long-term ramifications can be realistically relied upon. It's a lot of concerningly unfounded condescension and it is a huge power exploit as well.

Randomly having to get your hands amputated...? Good grief.

I don't know one single person who had complications from the vaccine.
I know, however, tens of people who died unvaccinated. (directly or from relatives/circle of people)

My wife's doctor said that side effects are vastly unreported because it's almost impossible to "prove" that the reaction came from the vaccine. Not saying that many people haven't been helped by the jab, again, my wife caught covid very mildly right after her first jab, but it's an issue.

I know 2 unvaccinated people who died of covid.

The family of a good friend (both parents and 1 grandparent) all got covid after they took 3 shots.

All 3 are heavy smokers, one overweight, one obese. Their only Covid symptoms were a gentle cough and a slight fever. These lasted 2 days.

Say what you want about the vaccine, but it works and it works well.

I am not going to discount your experience at all but regarding kids, there is no reason whatsoever to think the vaccine will impact their development or later fertility. The virus itself has been shown to infect testicles so getting COVID-19 may have an impact (though I doubt it will); there is no theoretical mechanism by which the vaccine will cause any problems to my knowledge.

Separately, my children's hospital has given the Pfizer vaccine to thousands of kids and we have had no serious adverse events as a result.

Youre right that there isn't any evidence that it will affect will impact their development. There isn't any evidence either way at all, that's my point. Add to that my wife's reaction, which obviously my kids could have similar reactions. Not worth it to me for a disease that barely affects kids.

I'm sure for some/a lot it does. It very well could have kept my wife from having worse symptoms. Would it have helped me? Who knows? I know that I was triaged with a group that was 50% vaccinated and still sick enough to need to be at the hospital and were as bad or worse than I was.

Again, not judging you or your family's decisions. My point is that we know COVID-19 affects many body systems, we know it goes to the testicles, we know many kids get MIS-C as a complication of COVID-19 within a couple of months of illness, and we know many kids get long-COVID. On the other hand, in the entire history of vaccines there have never been any adverse effects of any vaccine that did not emerge within 2 month of the administration of the vaccine, the components of mRNA vaccines get broken down and cleared from the body within days, and all of the various research on the vaccines have not shown any signs at all that it will impact the reproductive tract. As COVID-19 is so contagious and so prevalent, pretty much everyone will be exposed to it one way or another. So the question becomes do you want to risk being exposed without having been vaccinated or after having been vaccinated? If you choose not to get vaccinated that's your choice but reproductive/development concerns are not a logical reason why; there are many more fears from COVID-19 itself in those two areas.

I know of complications happening from it, but admittedly nothing immediately serious or to the scale of OP's reference (swollen eyeballs and a strange rash).

Also personally knew a handful who have died of covid (incidentally, all of them quite overweight or with at least moderate underlying conditions). I know of many more who had it with only mild or no symptoms; my own centenarian great grandmother who turned 100 years old this year had it twice with zero symptoms, my parents got it unvaccinated and were mild to moderately sick and then recovered, as with the great majority of people I know who've had it.

For the record, I'm not against its existence or people's voluntary choice to take it - the issue to me is the political exploit of forcing it as mandatory, and the closed-case mentality about its efficacy when that really cannot be assured with honesty, and examples to the contrary are suppressed or otherwise not given the time of day.
