A friend of mine became a trainer at F45 and kept pressuring me to join.
I was nervous because I’ve had neck and back injuries from bodybuilding and car accidents. I’ve also had shoulder surgeries from tennis. All of the high impact moves in her IG videos made me nervous. Yet she assured me that I could do everything low impact.
I should add that I also play tennis league.
I absolutely loved the obstacle course aspect and the workouts are the toughest I’ve done in years. I can see how addictive these gyms are. However, after 2 weeks I hurt my right wrist. Then a coworker who lost 100 lbs with F45 told me to use these wrist braces which helped.
I did 1-2 classes a week as I can’t afford a full membership on top of the tennis club.
Then I finally did my first burpee and started doing more high impact exercises 2 weeks ago. Last week I personally added more weights to the sled and used the ropes in our outdoor gym on a rainy night, basically incorporating the moves I learned at F45 into my tennis club gym. I think it also was too cold and rainy. I also did good mornings, bent over rows with kettlebells, squats, bending over and throwing weighted balls over my shoulder, revo bar overhead press, dumbbell chest press, band exercises…. all with very little rest between exercises.
Then I woke up at 3am with terrible low back pain. It’s improved a bit, but did I just go too hard?
Am I too old at 50 to do those type of HITT gyms?
I loved the results on my body and I’m scared to lose them. Ugh.

Thanks Cass! F45 is a gym franchise owned by Mark Wahlberg and David Beckham with HIIT training. It’s a lot of fun with an obstacle course and there are some people over 40 in there. I know there’s a man who looks like he’s in his 60s and he does modified and low impact exercises.
I think I just started going for high impact and did too much along with tennis and other forms of cardio, so now I’m paying the price with a back injury. I’m mostly doing Physical Therapy exercises and bands at home right now, but I’m not burning calories like crazy as I was in F45 classes. They literally were the toughest exercises I’ve ever done, and that includes my training for college tennis.

Well I saw my chiropractor and he said at 50 years old I'm probably too old to be doing box jumps, burpees, push the sled, ropes, etc. They just did wonders for my body without straining my neck like weights do. It's either neck or back I swear!
Getting old is for the birds....
Yet he did provide some pain relief, thankfully.Make It a Great Day! Just call me Dusty. It's a Clown 🤡 World out there.
