Landscaping. Truck, trailer(optional), mower, edger, pruner, weedwhacker. You can do the work yourself until you have enough clients to justify paying someone $x an hour to do it for you.

Landscaping/Mowing as said above. Pressure washing is also a good business that can be started under $2000.
Go to Reddit, there is a r/ --- r/sweatystartup -- that is where you should start. So much information and business sense for businesses under $5k. Hence the name, Sweaty Startup, because you're going to have to do grunt work and build your way up with a $5k business startup.

Car detailing.
Price varies from market to market.
I'm actually conducting some research on ways to detail cars to a high standard but with very little over head. This is what happens when you are college educated.
Hell, I think I'm going to start a car detailing business using my CC to help spread and build it.Last edited by tunafishha; 11-27-2021 at 07:10 PM.

Depending on where you live...
Pool cleaning.
Light Blue Collar work is the secret sauce to wealth.
My brother from another mother cleans pools here in So Cal and will net 275 this year and is a 1-man gig.
5K will get you a rig with 2-3 cards in it and depending on electrical costs, your ROI is at LEAST a year.
I'm running a farm with 24 GPU's and the only reason i keep it going is because its paid for 3 years ago, I dont over-clock them so I'm running a long game on my crypto mining and I do NOT pay for power.
If I paid for power I'd have shutdown years ago and moved on.Last edited by exbuffstuff; 12-21-2021 at 03:11 PM.

Did you see where I said the ROI is at least a year?
and as a matter of fact for 2021, you only have what....10-days to make any more in 2021, you must be writing about 2022.
If is you are serious about flushing 5k down the toilet for 2022, GTS.
Newegg and microcenter would be where I'd start.
To keep it simple use any of the following: Nicehash, Easy Miner or Awesome Miner.
But don't expect to make real money for ages if ever.

I don't really see a point in a small business (1 Person around a 100k a year in my eyes), many times it ends up just another job/self-employment, but with way more responsibility. Have you thought of finding a hustle you could do that would generate money while you try to build something that can snowball? There were quite a few suggested on here.
What problem can you solve with $5000?
Is it a one-off or can you repeat that after the initial investment?
Are you independent of someone else's platform/algorithm to operate?
Is it hard for more desperate others get in on it easily and undercut your costs?
Is it something that you can scale easily?
Does it operate without you being full-time dedicated to taskwork?
If you transported me to the US with no friends or contacts with 5k usd, I'd probably buy a van/truck, look for a job that's not hands-on a 100% of the time(I had a friend who was a museum guard and was flipping things on ******** marketplace/groups, then another who was a receptionist at a beauty place(filler injections, eyebrow tattoos, don't know what these are called), spending most of her time there working on a freelance gig and education). Then I'd try to make some steady money and make myself useful to as many people locally as I can in the process since as far as I've learned, people are the most important, can't tell you how many times I've seen people go to their church friends or people they've worked with before for a service, without even looking at alternatives(construction industry). I could also fail or be mugged and shot, but that's what I'd try to do anyways.
Edit: forgot to mention that I was a signaller on construction sites many years ago, would be sitting in a shed selling crap they used to throw out at the job on ebay in-between signalling the crane/trucks, sometimes would make way more than what they actually paid me.See JackedCracker's sig
