3D Printed J-cup padding

The v2 titan j-cups are designed much better than the v1 all around, except the pads are half the thickness, which wore down to the bolts in about a year.

I had a friend print up some thicker replacements for me.

The fasteners are not counter-sunk far enough below the surface of the Titan pads. Sometimes you get what you pay for.

Report back in a year with how the new pads are holding up. The 3D printer material I've used does not have great compression and wear characteristics. It seems that drilling out some raw UHMW blocks would be the ideal solution. Amazon sells a 4 foot bar of 3/8" x 4" for $20.

That's my fault, I started removing the bottom upright bolt before I thought wait, I should get a pic before I take it all the way out. They are counter sunk, but the wear layer is still only about 1mm. The bottom bolts are all the way in.

The 3d printed replacements have at least double the wear layer, but it varies due to imperfections in the print (2-3mm depending how deep I can thread the bolt). These were printed in HIP (high impact plastic).

They certainly look good! I too am thinking they won't wear as well as UHMW, which does wear for some people depending on your habits of rolling the bar against it. It would be interesting to do some drop tests on that plastic! I'd be curious what it takes to crack it in two.

Going by plastic property specs alone, it should slightly outperform UHMW

Just got done my first sets on these. 5 sets of OHP at 1 plate. Here's the wear so far, not much weight, but slammed against the back fairly hard.

That is a lot of plastic that rubbed off onto the bar. And the knurling looks fairly worn in that area.
