I don't know why people don't do this. It's literally the most efficient thing you can do. Because then once you're done you just throw out the carton and everything is self contained.

Exactly! i do the same thing with toilet paper and kleenex too. No need to walk 5 feet to the trash can each time and waste those precious hard earned calories.
