Brilliant marketing move or a desperate move by the administration? Personally I think this has to be one of the most asinine ideas ever floated and will lead to impeachment and removal from office if it ever got to the serious stage of actually being enacted.

The ACLU is suing the government for all the families affected by the separation at the border. It is around 5,500 families. They are suing for an average of 3.4 million for each of the 5,500. It isn't really a choice between settling and not settling, it's a choice between settling and fighting it in court. It’s a good chance we are going to have to pay one way or another, and this is likely the cheaper of the two options.

While there is not a chance in hell that it’ll ever become reality it does illustrate the utter stupidity of the Dem party. Where are the 81,000,000 people pushing for it? I hope they all learned a valuable lesson.

Yes, they explicitly do have rights. Nowhere in the first 10 amendments to the Constitution is the word “citizen.” The Bill of Rights protects everyone, including undocumented immigrants, to exercise free speech, religion, assembly, and to be free from unlawful government interference.

Actually, it could be, for instance the great Firewall (you know what that is, this is Chinas SM) if you speak about government the way Tommy does they come for you.
This could very well happen and some of the big tech companies will push for Internet regulations to keep their billions coming in, unlike what these snot nose geeks used to believe about Internet Freedom.
Some people would like nothing more for the government to come for them all over what they said on the Internet, there is an opportunity for self preserved justice there, just saying.......................

I am not sure why we’re acting like this is a choice on behalf of the justice department in prioritizing illegals over citizens. The government isn't so much 'prioritizing' them as 'trying to head off an even more expensive and likely to succeed lawsuit'. This was going to come to a head regardless of who was in the Oval Office or what their policy goals are. As they’re not paying them for “breaking the law”. They’re paying them because they violated their rights. They can always take it to court though and try to win there. They haven’t even paid anything yet, these are just talks of a settlement trying to be arranged. The government doesn’t seem to feel like they have a good defense if they’re trying to settle, but from a political standpoint it’s probably smarter to go to court over it.

Whenever anybody is detained for violating the law, they are generally separated from their families. That said, the cheaper option isn't always the best option. It might be cheaper in the short term, but by "settling" you create a giant incentive for even more people to come here illegally to exploit our unmitigated stupidity.
It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.
