Rat Feces On Weights- HELP!
I found all of my weights (Metal/Rubber/Cast Iron etc) covered in rat feces and possibly urine while I had them stored in the garage. Can anyone please recommend the best way to clean these weights and make them useable or is it just a lost cause and get rid of them?

Hot water and a little detergent. Just like cleaning restaurant equipment. Wipe the metal with an oiled rag after it dries.

If the feces has hardened and cannot be removed, then you're going to have to weigh and re-label everything to account for the added weight, or at least try to pair up plates with a similar amount of rat poop, so you're not leaning to one side when you lift.

If I tossed something out every time I found rodent poop on it, I'd have tossed out all sorts of things from sealed bags of dog food to my SUV engine. Disinfect (rubbing alcohol, Zep, dish detergent, whatever) and get on with your day.

Put them on CL or ******** Marketplace immediately for less than $0.50lb, they should go quickly. Place order for Rogue Deep Dish Olympic plates, they are 'Made in USA' and the rats will learn to fear their awesomeness....

I'd probably hose them off or pressure wash if you can, then wipe them down with clorox wipes or other disinfectant. If you can't pressure wash then scrub brush will probably be needed too. Good old dishwashing soap will also work if you give them a good scrubbing.
Definitely clean them outside and N95 or better mask + gloves if dealing with rodent droppings indoors. Hantavirus is rare but a hell of a lot worse than covid.
