The results from the lab were pretty cool. Saturated fats get cut in half on all pretty much (wings slightly less), trans only went down with the wings

Didn't watch the video but did they say anything about acrylamide? That would worry me.

It's equally bad with deep frying though.

they do cover it, basically don’t over cook your food in the air fryer and it’s not a worth

Ok, how is this not just a convection oven?

ive used my super nice convection oven vs air fryer. It just doesn’t cook the same. It’s like can you use an oven or broiler to make toast? Sure, is it the same? No :/

Agreed... as a fan of everything crunchy, an air fryer is actually BETTER imo, not to mention much faster with less prep.

Crunchy food is good but overly-greasy isn't especially appealing. Lightly frying is a happy medium but for calorie restriction purposes, if this tastes close it might be better in the main.

Well using an air frier you can literally use zero oil.... that's kind of selling point of it.

Oh, I honestly didn't know you could use oil at all. Thought it was strictly just fast convection.

No you can coat things like potatoes etc in oil and then toss them in too... just a pain to clean then

going to watch - i have an air fryer sitting in my kitchen in the box - for a few months - i'm a creature of habit and haven't had the time / desire to bust it out yet - thinking this vid might convince me - be back.....

in the video they do brush the food with oil before cooking it, even so it was lower in saturated fat. It would be even lower with out oil. The cleaning process always made me weary of buying one. I hate cleaning my instapot and it makes for for multiple meals. Seems like an air fryer maxes out at 1-2 meals

They're not hard to clean really. It's just a troff that you can wipe clean with a paper towel, etc... and they come with racks for putting stuff on.

I use mine 1-2 times a day, no exaggeration... it's how I cook potatoes, zucchini, falafel, and i sometimes use it for shrimp, fish, i've even heated up pizza in it... it works so well.

I didn't watch the video either but I know it shows lower levels in air frying than conventional frying. Less if you avoid overcooking it.

It takes some trial and error but you can make some really great stuff in an air fryer.

When I use my air fryer or my deep fryer, I set a 2'x2' piece of plywood on my cookstove and set the fryer on the wood. My stove exhaust is vented to the outside, and I turn it on. If you step out on my back deck, it smells like a restaurant. When I use the deep fryer I set a piece of patterning paper (it's what you shoot a shotgun at) on the wood. All the splatter and oil from utensils will end up on the paper so there is no mess.

Because the heat is dry with less time, I think it reduces it quite a bit... it's not gone completely tho of course
