Agreed. They should not have hired a lawyer for him either. He obviously did something bad or cruely refused to help.

Watching this video made me mad for several reasons, but the most specific reason is the complete lack of masculine behavior nowadays. After she gets shot, she tries to pass her child off to the man checking on her who won't take it. Then he runs, leaving her behind and basically taking cover behind her as he's fleeing. And then, as she's bleeding out behind a car, another idiot runs past her with a gun in his hand to go chase down the shooters instead of calling for an ambulance. Finally, those two nincompoops load her into a car like a sack of potatoes to drive her to the hospital, when she probably had a chance to live if the medics had her.

Rudolf was caught 1/4 mile from my high school. This area is much more heavily populated than Boone. Eric was only able to stay out there for so long because he had lots of help. Way more help than most people realize. My daughter went to school in Boone; totally different country. No way in hell he can survive up there without help, no matter how good of an outdoorsman he thinks he is.

Being around the Trail this time a year seems unwise. If he needed a trail, he should have taken the Benton MacCaye.

I'm only 53 miles from Boone, NC. It is a decent sized little college town, maybe 19,000 people.

The closest point that the Appalachian trail comes to me is about 13 miles away.

The other location that he was supposedly seen (in the video) is Hartford, TN. which is on I-40 at the TN/NC border. That is near the home of famous moonshiner "Popcorn" Sutton.

Hey MT, if I see Dog Chapman in my area, I will be sure to get spoon pics.

Hey MT, if I see Dog Chapman in my area, I will be sure to get spoon pics.

Watched a special on this last night

Here is a transcription of the body camera video:

Officer: “Did he hit you though? I mean, it's okay if you're saying you hit him. I understand if he hit you, but we want to know the truth if he actually hit you."

Petito: "I, I guess, yeah, but I hit him first."

Officer: "Where did he hit you? Don't, don't worry. Just be honest."

Petito: "He like grabbed my face, like, I guess. He didn’t like hit me in the face. He didn’t like punch me in the face."

Officer: "Did he slap your face or what?"

Petito: "Well, he like grabbed me, like, with his nail, and I guess that's why it hurts. I definitely have a cut. Like, I can feel it."

Yeah if she hit him first then IMO he did nothing wrong with defending himself. Seems like maybe she was the abusive one.

I see this appear on my timeline on all my social media outlets, but I don't read up on it cause I have no interest in it, so I really don't know the whole story. So I gather the guy who supposedly killed her is now on the run and no one knows why he killed her?

In some states if someone goes hands on in domestic violence they are arrested, it's out of the cops hands. From what I gather Wyoming it is at the officers discretion. Perhaps if the Officer removed one of them from the situation she may still be alive, we will never know now.

It's a woman hitting a man, yes I agree he can defend himself. Doesn't mean hurt her or worse, he can always walk away.

From my reading of the situation, I don't think cops in Wyoming have that discretion either, but, they perceived Gabby as the aggressor and thought it was silly to take her to jail because she didn't pose a real threat to Brian....so they were looking for a reason not to arrest. One of the cops went back to his vehicle to read the statute and interpreted it to mean physical violence with the intent to cause physical harm to another person. They then asked Gabby what her intent was when she hit Brian, and she said it was to get him to stop telling her to calm down (wasn't trying to cause him physical harm). The cops then had what they needed to not arrest Gabby. If it was to cause physical harm, they would have no discretion.

I don't blame the cops here. They did separate them for the night and had Brian spend the night at a hotel. I am not sure it would make any difference whether they were separated with Brian staying at the hotel or Gabby spending a night in jail. Either way, they would have been back on the road together again the next day.
