Brexit & Covid have caused issues with foreign workers going overseas & HGV drivers not being allowed to pass their tests or get the certificates due to backlog. Distribution of food to shops has been an issue for a while & now it has started badly effecting getting the gas to the petrol stations. There is plenty of fuel-just not enough drivers to get it to where the public can buy it. Last week a load of idiots started panic buying when it became a story & after a few days of that non panicking people started having to line up at the weekend thanks to them or chances are they will not get any. What made me laugh at Tesco on Saturday where I live is everybody in the line that was stretching way back was sitting there with their engines running non-stop.

retail faked a shortage. They just putting up "limit 1" signs because they know it will drive up sales. And they charging full MSRP which is basically price gouging. there hasnt been a sale on toilet paper in 2 years now.

For clarity countries all over the world including many european countries have HGV driver shortages in the tens of thousands

there are currently 40k drivers waiting to get their licences but the DVLA (Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency) have fckd up

This fuel is now reaching the end of its life span and this media spin was created in order to cause retards to run around panic buying and therefore creating demand for this soon to expire fuel. They the government want to stagnate every salary in the UK, covid lockdowns have helped close alot of businesses down

the haulage company's want cheaper drivers so they falsely promote a shortage of drivers this leads the gullible into training to become Drivers thus saturating the market keeping wages low

A tradie electrician working for a company average salary of £30-40k per year

the equivalent job in USA would be £100,000+

A small company in UK has a nationwide reach

A small company in USA would struggle to cover the state never mind the whole country

The lorry drivers at the logistics firm i work at start on 56k a year + a 5k signing bonus for new drivers. More for experienced drivers + overtime. Many HGV drivers right now are balling and raking in 70-80k a year with overtime.

Who the heck wants to become a HGV driver? I only know one guy from my social circle - it’s not a job/career young people wanna do. On top of that hardly anyone in UK wants to work. The only people I see working in the Uk are immigrants and young men/women who have a family.
