On my short list of gun things to buy for 2022 is going to be:
- Staccato C2 with a rds on it, not sure which rds, I have a 1moa rmr on my staccato p right now, but I might go with holosun 509t idk
- A thermal monocular, primary use will be handheld to use in conjunction with my night vision (dtnvg). Looking at a MH25, or maybe a NOX18 or NOX35, not sure which yet
- More ammo
- More classes. I did 3 this year: two night vision and one force on force cqb class. Already paid and signed up for a more advanced force on force cqb class next year, will do another nods class, and want to do shiv works ECQC.

This is probably a can of worms, but for very minimal, just in case, use is there value in bino over mono nvg?

If you have the money to buy once cry once then get dual tubes, but getting a nice high spec pvs14 is still a very good route.
If you get a high spec (L3 white phosphor filmless with high specs) pvs14, it will be probably like $4000 - $5000 (at the very most), then when/if you want to go to dual tubes you can do either:
A. Sell the pvs14 for probably at least 90% of what you paid for it, then buy a dual tube setup
B. Get another high spec PVS14 and use a panobridge for dual tube setupR.I.P. ssj4veggeto1008

Only like 30 minutes from me. I know quite a few people who live in Oxford and/or have kids who go there. Probably know one of the deputies at the scene too, but haven’t reached out to him about it. Crazy.
I’m sure if no national gun control gets pushed, something in state will be attempted.Everything depends upon execution; having just a vision is no solution.
Performance and performance alone dictates the predator in any food chain.

I've messed around very briefly with binos but have quite a lot of experience with PVS-14s. They're certainly viable options. The US just fought two wars using 14s and we absolutely slaughtered people at night with them. You're going to tremendously increase your lethality at night with 14s, as long as you're properly trained with them. Buying them "just in case" isn't going to do much good. It'd be similar to never firing a gun before and buying a rifle "just in case" and rarely using it. You're only as deadly as your training, not your tools. If you're not going to train with it I wouldn't even bother spending the money for NODs. Training is much more than shooting, too. Walking in the mountains with NODs without any other gear is extremely valuable training in and of itself. Not all training requires a course taught by a professional, though that's certainly a major factor.
Also, keep in mind you will 100% need an IR laser, easily adding another couple grand. I'd go as far as to say if you're not planning to get a laser don't waste your money on NODs in the first place. Sure, NV compatible optics are common, but you're severely limiting your capabilities with NODs if you're relying solely on your optic.
For the record, I will be buying binos at some point in the not so distant future.Misc Firearms Crew

No call for OT this week, fck me; those 25 new C/Os we got in are killing it for me. Another 25 coming in Feb too, might need to start doing day shifts for OT again, but I hate that since I tend to do dumb sht and the Admin frowns upon that.
Enjoying a bit of whiskey though, so not a totally bad day.

Short cuts to success are often paved with lies.

Thanks!
Laser is already mounted. It's a dual, but I want to start practicing and training with the IR as well as they visible.
Our NOD options aren't as extensive here. I've been reading up for a while trying to decide on value.
These seem reasonable:

I'm considering the
AO-PVS-14, Night Vision Monocular (Photonis 'ECHO PLUS' Gen 2+, Category 1, Autogated, White Phosphor)
Then I started thinking bino...

This morning I’m taking the structural defense items off my rifle and setting it up in varmint mode.
Gonna see what kind of initial groups the Wilson will produce with the Luepold Vari-X III at 100 yards when bench rested.
The Protector has the first dedicated 5.56 chamber I’ve hand loaded for, so this process is very interesting to me.

I've used both predator hunting and get probably 2h a night 5x/wk under nods through fox season in my area, which is about 4 months. Adds up to roughly 160 hours per season, probably more. Military side I only used a NV magnified rifle scope so less to offer there.
Monocular is great for a lot of reasons - light weight, smaller form factor, can wear it longer comfortably, etc. You'll still need to flip it up if you want to aim with a rifle mounted optic (I keep the thermal on my rifle rather than handheld). You retain natural night vision in your off eye and better peripheral vision, so monos support your ability to read lighting conditions better.
Binos take less practice to walk with. They're critical for driving (I drive sxs and atv through dense woods at night with binos, very doable). They're also great for passive aiming through a RDS or even a rifle scope whereas doing that with a mono is tough. They're also good for doing dexterity work where you need two focal planes (I focus my dominant eye far and other eye close when e.g. referencing a map frequently).
Both are useful. Tl;dr I'd recommend a mono especially if you live in the burbs because your use case has more ******t light concerns and less rugged terrain. Nods take a lot of training and practice to use effectively. I still learn something every time I go out.
Wrt laser you want a device where the aiming laser and illuminator activate with one button press. I like an illuminator with a good amount of throw. The neutered laser based illuminators are bull****. A focusable LED illuminator or full power device are the ones to use.Last edited by NuggzTheNinja; 12-01-2021 at 06:42 AM.

3rd time I know of this happening in a year in this city. OP posted some footage from his car somewhere in the comments.
Last Christmas season a nurse was found dead around 8pm (if I recall) like an hour after she had been shot and her car was stopped in the shoulder on a busy highway.

Picked up my P10F today and RMR will be delivered soon. Really don’t understand why people buy glocks when CZ’s exist. It’s like a Glock but better trigger and sights out the box and also cheaper.
Decided to go with the most proven and GOAT pistol optic cause didn’t want to wait for ACRO P-2 to drop. Still might get it if I end up with an ACOG for my LMT build might put RMR on top of that.Browns/Indians/Cavs/Buckeyes

The triggers are hot ass tho. Or they used to be, been awhile since I shot one.
When I went to go buy my first pistol the M&P is what I thought I was going to buy. Rented the m&p, Glock, Cz and something else can’t remember, maybe a sig. Bought the CZ cause I shot it the best that particular day.Browns/Indians/Cavs/Buckeyes
