Not sure if this is the right forum for this or not...
Many health plans offer various discount/reimbursement schemes to cover the costs of leading a healthier lifestyle and as an incentive for people to do so. We are with Blue Cross and their reimbursement system is run by ShareCare. The deal is for the ShareCare app to track what you do and if you score enough points each month you get the discount. And, given the costs of equipment, trainers and nutrition this would be very helpful.
The ShareCare app really really sucks though. Unlike EVERY other app, it can't succesfully pull data from other apps and use that data to determine what you're doing or what kind of fitness you have. I've got about 10 different apps that all share data but ShareCare can't so even though I far exceed their quite low threshold I don't get reimbursed. There's a way to manually enter data but you have to do a bunch of manual lookups and calculations first - they can't even do that. The only thing the ShareCare app can do is pull how much you walk from the Apple fitness app. It can't even pull workouts.
The gym reimbursement / healthier incentive policies for most plans are intended to be so difficult with so many hoops to jump through that you give up before they ever have to pay you anything. But they still get to put it on their marketing materials.
Yep, probably some truth in that with some. I'm pretty sure this one is just that the Sharecare app is so inept. A lot of people who walk 10,000 steps with an Apple watch get the reimbursement but any other exercise has to be done manually.
