Which rower machine is good?

I am thinking to purchase a rower machine but I am a bit confused about which one should I go for. Do you have any recommendations?

Concept II is the benchmark all others are measured against.

Hydrow is the peloton 'esque one, if those electronics appeal to you.

If you think you'll use it and like the Concept II, that's still the one to get.

I have a model C. When shortages go away I may get a model D, but my C is 20 years old and there isn't really a reason to change. They're commercial grade, simple, and they work. I have a pad on the seat of mine and am comfortable for 45 minutes to an hour. I wouldn't be without that pad so I'd recommend you make sure whatever you get fits your @$$. If it doesn't, you won't use it.

If you haven't already spent time on a CII, it's something you should try to use a bit before buying. That's true of any of the quality rowing machines

Teeter Power 10. Hands down. It’s an elliptical rower. I came upon it when searching for a rower. I ended up with one and it is by far the best piece of equipment I’ve ever used. You can cruise or you can bump up the settings to where it is HARD!

To me it comes down to the Concept2-D or Hydrow. I have a TACX Neo that I use frequently and riding to the videos helps immensely with boredom. I definately put in more workouts and more miles per workout thanks to the videos. So for me the Hydrow wins big on that score. HOWEVER, my TACX membership is $9/month while Hydrow is $38/month. I'm not going to pay over $400/yr for a Hydrow membership (nor would I pay that much for a TACX membership). If Hydrow was $9/month or $15/month I'd do it but not $38/month.

Hydrow should perhaps offer a $9/month membership that just includes the real life videos. Since I (and I assume most others) do my own workouts I'm not interested in any of their fitness programs or competitions. I just want good data on power, reps, heart rate and other stuff (displayed during the workout and downloaded) and videos to take away the boredom.

So Concept2-D for me.

Concept II or Stairmaster Hiit rower for the gold standard, the water rowers are cool too for space. But depends on your needs and space available. I would stay away from combo units and high monthly fees for apps since some of these units that use apps are basically bricked if you don't pay monthly.

I did a lot of research previously on rowers. I didn't end up buying one, but, as mentioned, the Concept II Model is the "Gold Standard". I also thought the Sole SR500 looked good, and was priced well. This is a combination magnetic and air rower. It should be a little quieter than the Concept II, and gives you the ability to adjust the resistance on the fly, with the buttons on the handle.

Concept2, hands down. There are other good rowers out there (e.g. Xebex, Hydrow), but the simplicity of C2's design makes its durability, ease of repair and low repair costs unmatched. They also maintain their resale value like no other.

i was a competitive rower for years - hs, college, club - people who row competitively would only buy concept II.

other machines might be fine - have never / would never sit on one.

Another vote for concept 2! great machine easy to maintain and with being able to break it in two pieces stores easily in corner when you not using it

I hate recommending the expensive equipment, but Concept II really is the best. I checked used listings every day and it taken about 3 years to get a used one for cheap. It was worth the wait.
This was a Model D for $300 by the way, pretty good imo.
