sorry to butt in here guys - but many ppl have great respect for things from different cultures and honor them, buy them, visit them, wear them, listen to them, eat them, have them tattooed on our bodies
not every instance of someone appreciating something from a culture not ones own - is cultural appropriation. do you only enjoy things from your own culture? doubt it.
the cultural appropriation argument gets moldy when no questions are asked - and only assumptions are made.
perhaps a bit of human interaction would solve A FU34 TON of issues, least of which the idiocy displayed here on this thread by a small few.
@bodyhard - sorry ppl out there don't understand tattoo collectors - i deal with it too - oh well - good thing we don't have to be with them all the time
tattoo collectors are some of the coolest ppl i've met over the years and their appreciation for other cultures and the ultimate show of honoring them, permanently inking artwork, symbols, words - is also very cool, in my not so fu34ing humble opinion.....
(middle finger emoji) idiots
EDIT: @bodyhard - i have no clue why you doin' it - also don't care - looks cool - nice workNew Year Fat Loss thread --> https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=180906143&p=1652695513#post1652695513

Some women look hot with tats.
I wouldn't say scary looking, but when I was a kid I viewed tats on only gang members, in fact I have a gang/jail tat on my right hand which is the stupidest thing you will ever see. However I keep it as it reminds of the things I did and it keeps me grounded. Its about the only tat I have on me that means something and it is the ugliest thing you will see. During my life I've always covered it whenever I went into an interviews, my other two tats prior to now getting this one are tribal.

All my tattoos are very personal and I have one particular one that is a simple glass that reminds me of a buddhist story about non attachment so that when I see it every morning I remember the story and I remember to apply it to my life. In a way I think your prison tattoo works in a similar way. That being said nothing wrong with getting quality work done because you like the way it looks. Yours looks great by the way.

lol. That's HAKA, bro. Islanders tradition. Back in the day, you scare the enemy before you cut his head off and put it on display.
He is short and tanned. That makes him honorary Polynesian.
But when he does that 'gangstah lean' stuff, he gives away his Puerto Rican heritage. This above all..

Absolutely!!
I am thankful for cultural appropriation. If I didn't dress like a White man, I'd be going to work wearing a loin cloth and riding a goat instead of Nissan.
And here in PA, that would make my nutsack shrivel in the winter and it would take six hours to get to work. Cuz goats are slower than Japanese cars.
So to all you White People out there, thanks for letting me 'appropriate' your culture.

The cultural appropriation argument is a unique obsession we have in the United States. I have found that people from those cultures who we've supposedly "appropriated" aren't nearly as offended as people born in the US who have no real connection to that culture. A few years ago, there was white girl in the news because she wore a qipao (Chinese traditional dress) to the prom. Of course, the usual suspects were outraged at the "cultural appropriation" as were many Chinese academics and students. The catch? The most vocal critics were born and educated in the United States. Chinese people who were actually from China thought the hysteria surrounding it was ridiculous, and found it flattering that a person outside of their culture could appreciate its unique aesthetics.
You aren't getting territorial over tattoos are you?It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.

Exactly!!!
Leftists are usually the ones who scream 'cultural appropriation!!'
True story. There was a Black man at my gym years ago. He was a boxing instructor. I even strength-trained some of his competitive boxers.
He also taught arnis / escrima.
One day I gifted him a pair of authentic Filipino fighting skills. Because, to your point, I was flattered that he would take the time to spread my culture.

Before warring parties engage in bloodbath, they scare each other basically.
And there were no prisoners. Because the losing team literally lost their heads.
Good thing it's not a thing anymore. But they kept up with the tradition. So the culture carried over to sporting events. This above all..

LOL. It's all good bro.
We don't have to get our heads wrapped up in anything. It's kinda like some haters here who cannot wrap up the idea of a Puerto Rican hombre who wants Polynesian tats simply because you like it. Nothing wrong with not understanding everything in this world. Me, personally, I don't have tats because it's not for me, although I do appreciate body arts. This above all..

i mostly love bb dot com and hilarious ppl that pass thru here!! ya'll are *mostly* amazing!!!!!
makes sense to me - your body your choice - rock on
color me low class and trashy then (side note & late edit - i obviously disagree with you - but totally respect and defend your right to feel that way - and s41t - every nice straight laced chick needs a trashy friend - i feel i still serve a purpose - and my hubs thinks its hot, so - its all good)
awesome!
i have some personal, some cool, some funny - once you start going to tattoo conventions - you realize that my body my choice in the skin art world is really true and ppl do all sorts of amazing things - not really concerned if others like or appreciate them, tho some ppl tend to
i think we all fit in here - i just have a disdain for judgement on the part of those who dont understand others well - like i buy a song, you no like, why i care, why you judge....keep waiting for the modern enlightenment, guess ill be waiting a while longer
i hope you are serious - this is amazing, funny, and still amazing....been there - its a long trip hahahaha
exactly - i have noticed the same, with my tat collection - ppl who recognize the images, appreciate the art
thanks for this - so awesome!

Honestly I didn't even know it was a Polynesian tat until I kept getting turned down by the local tattoo artist. I just googled Chest and Sleeve tat and saw the pic and said, Yup this is what I want. But every freaking tattoo place I went to kept telling me they don't do Polynesian tats. So then I started researching what tattoo parlor does Polynesian Tats and bam I found one!
LOL like the the Jamaican guy who had Wendy tatted on his dick and the white guy said "Hey we have the same tat" and the Jamaican guy said "Nay man, when I get hard my dick say Welcome to Jamaica Have A Nice Day"On the list for Bannukah
