not sure what to call what i am trying to talk about ... technically the area is the gluteal sulcus - and the couple inches above and below - the area where butt and hamstring meets
anyway - i'm down quite a bit (weight) and still have more to go - and this is not a 'which exercise' question....i know how to isolate the muscles, rather - this is a skin question.
ok - so that area is a little deflated since cutting - and the skin itself seems to be not really dry and not a cellulite issue - but just like idk - it wrinkles a bit with the now less fat in the area. i see it in bodybuilders - men and women - when they dry out before competition. i don't look like them 🤣 but i do have that little weird area. i have more weight to loose - so i know what i am starting to see will get worse if i don't handle it. been using lotions and stuff - thinking it was just dry skin, but that doesn't seem to be it. it's also not loose - so filling with muscle won't necessarily affect the skin issue itself.
so - i am hoping this is something some of you are familiar with and have a go-to solution for? or maybe you can just tell me the proper vocabulary to use whilst researching?
i am older - and i have kiddos and tons of tats, so skin stuff not foreign to me. this is new tho - my skin other places handling the losses fine. like some stretch marks and a few places looser than i would prefer, but not stressing on that. just this odd skin that i haven't experienced before making me say HMMM 🤔
late edit: i am very well hydrated - so that won't help - if i drink any more water i get electrolyte issues - so i'm good in that way

no - can't too (trying to think of a lie here - not shy, not modest, not really embarrassed)
anyway - you don't want pics of my a5$
but still a funny thought - maybe i'll grab pics of pros on stage with what i am talking about
when i was younger - i worked with a photographer who used to shoot shows - and hand out cards to buy reprints - and i remember it was a big deal for the competitors - just never figured i would have to deal with it - ah to be 20 and have a perfect a5$ and skin again.....New Year Fat Loss thread --> https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=180906143&p=1652695513#post1652695513

Skin takes a while to snap back. You’ve lost 40 lbs in 6 months according to you sig.
Just got to give it time and keep cutting. It’s a little hard to build up muscle and lose weight at the same time. What will get rid of that area is building muscle and time and maybe as far as surgery

i was eagerly awaiting your response!!
5'10" - and ya - 6 months - and i'm still holding ~134lbs lean mass
i'm not lifting currently - but sooooo anxious to start. waiting until my first decent plateau to get back in - and just beyond excited to lift heavy s41t again.
we lift at home and have a squat rack, bars, plates, bells, benches, bands. zero machines. so squats, deadlifts, good mornings, goblet squats, suitcase dl's....various modified movements to account for a few pins in an ankle.
i was a heavy lifter when i was competing in high school and college. always fall back in line fairly easily - but i get unspeakably hungry and must complete fat loss this time without falling off the wagon for years before coming back. health concerns forced absolute necessity this time - and i will complete fat loss with or without lifting - but plan to start at the first decent plateau - which i suspect will be before christmas.
i know, i know, i know - lifting now is better. i am managing to hang onto lean mass so far - and that's the other factor. if this changes - i will also immediately begin lifting again. i figured i would have already, honestly.
(unspeakable hunger does not plague me at maintenance while lifting - so not a long term problem, in my case)
i had discounted that this would be a muscle improvable issue early on - since what i am noticing is more skin specific. the issue is more the consistency / quality of skin - or changes therein? almost like knees and elbows can get if not paid enough attention to - and my a56 has never been like that.
you maybe right tho - as mass under skin affects skin, ultimately. hmmmm 🤨
now contemplating starting lifting sooner. have been battling this issue since cut started, really. i need to get thru the next cut first - have a pesky point of contention coming up that must be obliterated. not a set point as much as a point of hesitation and previous failure.
ok - i'm blathering now....should probably have been in fat loss journal....oh wellNew Year Fat Loss thread --> https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=180906143&p=1652695513#post1652695513

good point. i'm one of those 0 or 110 ppl. but as i get older i am trying to be more than my limitations. maybe i could handle lifting a little and not hammering it. i have tried before: right after surgeries trying to just lift what i was allowed, but ended up fu6k1ng my s41t up, dieting into kidney and pancreas issues, stupid hypoglycemic periods that caused major problems. i have a screwed up history with all or nothing bs, so i tread lightly
i have literally failed this journey like 10 to 12 times since getting fat a while back (after a decade of being a top tier competitive athlete). so for me, learning to not go balls to the wall has been the hardest lesson (which i am still learning, clearly) of my life.
i am a sober addict who has lived thru s41t that is unsurvivable, time and time again. i am a medical conundrum that shouldn't exist. so far, learning moderation with lifting, cardio, calorie restriction has been harder than all of that.
my moderation in this cut so far is me overcoming a phenomenal hurdle for the very first time EVER. not cutting an extra 1-2 lbs a week because i know how to go faster, managing to do 14 days at maintenance mid cut, also for the first time EVER, and not screwing myself with insatiable hunger.
thanks for the suggestion - i might do some leg work and try to avoid a full routine. if i do, i'll do it with an insane amount of caution.
but again, seriously looking forward to being done cutting and beginning maintenance eating and grinding my way up in my lifts and going on my merry fu6k1ng way about life.

I would try to lift at least twice a week for legs. Even if it’s only 20 minutes. I mean with weight loss it’s normal, I’m a lower weight than I would like right now with health issues and have exactly what you are talking about. And it won’t go away with just gaining weight, I have to lift. Just try 20 minutes of some squats and dead’s variations. Maybe after dinner or before. See what works better for the hunger issue
Here is me in Greece last week with my butt lines that your talking about lol and some lady giving me an amazing massage. They just happen with any weight lose and even more so in your 30’s

wowowowow - greece last week! amazing! and exactly! well - since i'm 43 - guess it was bound to happen!
after writing out my explanation below - i get me a little better - but also think i am letting part of me fu34 another part of me. not unfamiliar territory, unfortunately.
alright then - i'll start with some leg work this week - work thru some doms - and prolly start upper body next week. i just want to lift anyway - so why the fu34 not!
thanks all - love this hilarious motley crewNew Year Fat Loss thread --> https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=180906143&p=1652695513#post1652695513
