Hungarian goulash - no restaurant anywhere near me makes this that I'm aware of. Had homemade a few times growing up. Each time it was delicious, and I'm eager to try it again soon.

When i was growing up we had neighbors move in who escaped from Iraq. They couldn’t really speak English, but the lady would bring over bowls of Biryani. Its funny how you can share meal with someone who can’t speak your language and suddenly you get along just fine. It was incredible having authentic home made biryani. I have found it in a couple of restaurants but it was never anywhere near as good. I probably havent had it in 20 years.

Grandma’s Borscht, she passed but it was amazing and she would modify the recipe for me so it was vegetarian
I don’t make it now because no one else wants to try it and it’s a lot of work for veggie soup

Was meaning peroshki or however you spell it. Not the soft, boiled type, the ones that look more like hot pockets:

Oh, yes I also loved her beef stroganoff. But we rarely ever got that. I think she hated making it for some reason.2 time survivor of The Great Misc Outages of 2022

Fuking A! Tbh I absolutely was absolutely STARVING when I posted that!! I spent a week visiting my parents where Jack Daniels was the main course for every meal (never doing that again...& I ain't talking bout good ol' JD )
I've also recently upped my calories to bulk more aggressively and had to fast that day, so I could've eaten anything. The speed with which I typed up that list was both extremely impressive & just outright terrifying, even to me LMAO
