I have decided to look at these movies. I did not read comic books when I was a kid, so I don't know anything about them.
Are they in any sensible order? Where should I begin?

Probably still a lot of good stuff there, just be aware (if going for magazines at least) that identity politics and wokeness is ever increasing in that space and it's now refered to by many sane ppl as "M-she-U"...changing sex, race and sexual preferences of old characters and making those things a priority over a good story is now a thing - some of the new stuff is so extreme they even sometimes cancel it themselves before launch. I followed some profiles over the years , mainly from gaming, but that had a crossover to this space from being (completely nonpolitical) previous comic store owners etc... and just following a bunch of developments and watching various series. I am not far right as any "offended" person would say...just chiming in as this is something I somewhat follow.

If you really want to invest watching the MCU what you do is get yourself a Disney+ account for like $8/month and watch them all there.
Disney has the exclusive rights to the MCU and that is the only site to find all the movies and series.
Furthermore, they have them in chronological order, and they all do tie into each other in some way.
In addition, Disney exclusively has MCU mini-series like "WandaVision" to further satiate your appetite after you play through the main movies.

Yeah, watch in order of release. Most of the movies have elements that lead into or are followed up on in later movies.
This guy's youtube is deep into the Alien and Predator lore.
