    Eating every two hours, bad for you?

    Hello.

    I've been reading a lot about optimal ways to consume meals through the day and there seems to be a lot of opinions on the internet that eating every two hours is bad for you. However, most of these are based on the idea of gaining weight. I've been eating every two hours (breakfast, second breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner and then an approximately 12 hour fast) for a couple of years now and am not gaining weight. Reading all these negative comments about eating every two hours I am now worried that this might not be optimal for my health... Should I just reconsider how I am eating?

    It's neither good nor bad - perhaps bad for your psychological relationship with food. Perhaps it's something you need to do if you were an elite endurance athlete during training.

    Intraday timing of food is largely a non issue. Less frequent eating is sometimes associated with better appetite regulation. Protein is one thing that's worth distributing into about 4 or 5 widely spaced feedings through the day.

    Can you explain in what ways that you have “heard” it can be bad? I’m not familiar with what you are talking about.

    Seems like a waste of time I mean stopping to eat every two hours, your spending 1/3-1/4 you day eating

    And if you over eat, you’ll probably eat more

    But it’s not bad for you if you have the time and stick to your calorie goals
