Massive water retention mid-workout/post workout any advice ?

I tend to sweat a ton when working out and get thirsty so drink about a 2 litres of water during workout.

Around mid-way I notice I start to bloat up puffy/water bloat and this remains for the rest of the day... I then wake up about 2/3 times through the night and must release about 2/3 litres easy.. and looks slim in the morning.

Is there a reason I'm holding it while others seem to be able to drink and not bloat up like i do ? Is it the intensity that I train/cortisol ? Would love to get this under control.

    Thanks

Urinate, mid-workout & post-workout. No need to save it for the middle of the night.

Sometimes I sleep with a catheter so that I don't wake up at night with the urge to urinate. Maybe give that a try. You can buy the tubing at a hardware store. Use 3/16"

I've considered this so many times as it can be really disruptive to my sleep and I don't seem to feel the urge until im sleeping... I workout at 6pm finish at 8pm in bed for 1am... and in those 4/5 hours.... dont have the urge to go.... then boom soon as I doze off... it begins 3/4/5 times a night.

Im certain its my cortisol lowering when sleeping and then releasing the retained water.

Probably has a lot more to do with sodium than cortisol. When do you eat most of your sodium throughout the day?

Im very confused by the sodium thing as I have been eating low carb for months and dont salt my food so any sodium I get is already in my food.

    Chicken.
    Eggs
Tomato ketchup no added salt or sugar
    Dark choc 85%
    zero carb protein shakes
    Beef
    Sausage
    Unsmoked bacon.
    water
    coke zero.

This is my daily eating.... I have adopted this when diagnosed as type 2 diabetes... So im low carb high fat.

According to my lifesum app im around 2/3 gm per day.

Instead of the catheter you can take some rubber tubing sort of like a bicycle tyre inner tube. Put some barb fittings on one end to reduce it down to the size of a small rubber/plastic pipe. Put the open end in a 2 litre bottle or milk jug by your bed. Put the big rubber tubing on your unit. When you awake at night with the need to urinate, you can just urinate from your bed as the liquid will go to the bottle or jug. I do this on long airplane flights, ship voyages or drives.

Play "running mountain stream" on a sleep app continuously while you work out.

Try Depends before you go the catheter route every night. PinK often likes to choose the most complicated, adventurous options in life.

Too much or too little I was expecting to be having too little due to my low carb diet.

In that case you may want to take some sodium tablets in the evening and that may help you, assuming your blood pressure is not high.

I mean I go to bed puffy and wake up looking like 10% lower in BF... but I do eat a lot of carbs and just don't care

Disregard my advice. I'm probably a 7 on the 1-10 crazy scale. Don't date anyone more than one number away from your own crazy scale. I dated a 9 on the crazy scale. (she was also a 9, had a college scholarship running the 400 yd dash and taught aerobics on the side). A 7 and a 9 did not work out. I dated some 5's and I was too much for them.

I actually set an alarm mid-way through my sleep (which is, in theory, the very end of a cycle) to pee. If I just wait for it to happen, which it always has and will, it might be too close to the time I actually need to be up, and then I can’t get back to sleep. I down a protein shake while I’m at it because I’ve been empty for 8 hours at that point/the milk makes me feel cozy and lulls me back into unconsciousness. All works out very well.
