I actually had quite a bit of binge eating this month to be honest, from the birthday stuff to starting the new job and figuring out new routine but I think I'm slowly figuring it all out. Might cut back on cardio and start getting into weights, I'm averaging 15k steps a day may change that to 8-10k and spend an hour doing body weight exercises? Unsure, I'll figure something out.

I mean - i think you already know how i feel - i think lifting will change your life!!! you are going to get strong (and realize some of your existing strength) and feel better and better. the rock and hard place of cardio that is the s41ter - is that it is muscle wasting. so being in a deficit, lifting, and doing cardio can be hard on the muscle. not saying not possible - just saying that its a tight rope act for sure!! just always make sure you get enough protein and fat, eh?
you are a rockstar who has accomplished a ton already - so be proud and patient - we got you fam!!!Last edited by mtnmama; 09-24-2021 at 11:51 AM.

Probably a lot of water weight lost as expected. Had a really enjoyable week, I've actually upped my calorie intake by 300 and all the pressure has been off me. Going to stick to 2500 cals average a week for a few weeks just to see where I go because I felt strong for the first time in a while when lifting. Found a push pull legs routine on here a few week ago and after usually doing my own version this one is really kicking my ass.
Already noticing changes so looking forward to the end results if I run it to xmas.
All the best this week 🙌

Slight tweak to back preventing workouts since Tuesday, but on the rise. Might be able to lift lightly by sunday or early next week. Until then maintaining deficit and walking/biking when back allows.

I had a couple of weigh-ins at 101.2 kg in the past few days, so hopefully the extra 300 grams is just water weight.
Happy to be moving in the right direction. At this rate I won’t reach my stated goal in the Sep->Dec challenge, but I don’t have a strict deadline for reaching that goal - if I can get down to 95kg in 2021, I won’t complain.

Amused by this weigh in because it proves just how bloated I was... I'm definitely FEELING better. The husband noticed and said I looked SIGNIFICANTLY different this week. No big binges this week, which on it's own would have made this a good week.
Deloading/fixing form on lifts this week so I don't have reliable feedback for my strength. I did get DOMS from my re-worked benchpress and my switch back to barbell squats from goblet squats (which was neat.) Motivation for my workouts was bad, but deloading helped. I'm hoping switching up my rep scheme will give me enough novelty to start getting interested again. It usually works.

Felt bloated despite weight drop, so I wouldn't be surprised if I drop 4-5lb by next Friday and then stall for a week or 2. Rocky start but feel like I've got the momentum going now and motivation of new month and upcoming holidays to keep it up.
Back has been improving, so that's another blessing. Long weekend ahead so I've gotta keep my head on my shoulders and not cave to sweets.

Still hitting 2500 cals a day on average.
180 to 200g of protein.
Plus making sure I get 10k steps a day just to keep the same activity levels up.
New p.p.l routine is now 4 weeks in and seeing lots of changes.
Really happy with the progress looking forward to the end results.
@mtnmama Yes the weather is always poor in the Uk 😆
Wish I lived in the mountains! They are great for cardio and leg gains, hikings been an absolute game changer for me over this last year not just fitness wise but those views too. The ones I get to climb round here wont be anywhere near as huge as the ones near you though. Probably babies in comparison

On paper it looks like more weight loss than last week, but I’m sure I was carrying some extra water weight last time, so I suspect I’ve lost about the same amount of fat as last week.
I bought myself a ketone breath tester which arrived this week - something to motivate me when the scales are not being kind to me. Not as accurate as a blood test but more convenient. My latest reading was 14 ppm which indicates ketosis.

Craved protein like mad this week. I have a rule that if I crave protein, I let myself have it, So I'm honestly surprised I still lost this week... Aesthetically I noticed big improvements this week. Back and legs are really coming in. For awhile my back looked like I had very odd shoulder pads because my delts were my first muscles to show my gains. I won't miss that. lol.
Continued adjusting lift form on BP and Squats. The gym's new rowing machines came in this week so I resumed that. First true week of low weight, high rep for this mesocycle. Set some new PRs for that rep range, so that's good evidence I am getting stronger. Wasn't as bored this week. More tired though.

Average calories slightly over plan this week at 2889 which is mainly due to a huge binge last Saturday where I hit over 5k calories also ate differently to normal monday and Tuesday which gave me rather high calories with little protein return.
Anyway not going to sweat it, I fully expect to be well below 90kg next friday and firmly on course to my goal.
Aiming for 2400 average calories this week with a protein goal of over 185g.
Im keeping up my usual activity level of 5 mile a day minimum walking and my new ppl routine which is really starting to shape me.
Really glad I took the leap of faith onto this routine

Pretty happy with this week’s weight loss. I don’t expect to lose this much every week - let’s see how it goes in the next few weeks…
BTW, I’m 6’3” (189cm) and 45 years old. I’m not a bodybuilder, but I just really like the fat loss motivation threads on this forum. I joined one a few years back but then I lost my login details, so I’m back under a different account this time.

Had a great week. Got my 5km every day plus a little extra on the weekend. Added Metamucil in 2x daily as both fibre and an appetite suppressant. Working great so far alongside my change from 3 to 4 meals a day. My 1000 -1200 cal deficit is much more manageable.
I have another maintenance week planned for the end of the month (short road trip) so this week's loss was nice to see.Jan 2021: 270.0 lbs

a good week - i averaged 1325cals - a little under my target - but within 50cals - so im good. im in my 5th month of cutting (with a 12 weeks on 2 weeks off schedule now). pretty 'normal' living on these cals at this point. will likely be another year before i hit my real goals - but not sure since i need to see how i feel at lower body fat and see how much lean body mass i hang on to once down a ways.
going to a show tonight - Red Rocks - stoked! hope yall have a fantastic weekend!!!

Better late than never. Last week I slightly overdid my lean bulk and got up to 180lb and around 20% body fat (I'm 6'1"). The result was that it took two separate cutting periods to see my abs again, which happened at 163lb. I've been more conservative this year - I ended my bulk at 173lb and maybe 16% - I can still see the faint outline of abs when flexing. I've been at maintenance for the past five weeks and have lost 3lb, most of which would have been water weight and happened in the first two weeks. I'll start cutting next week - 750 calorie deficit on weekdays, maintenance on weekends.

Didn't track this week. Got sick at the start of the week, then didn't self-correct like I usually try to do. The last time I did this it helped to go on at least nominal maintenance for a few weeks so I'm going to see if that works. Aggravated about back-sliding... again... but reminding myself that the first rule I set for myself was that this takes the time it takes.
Exercise went well this week. 2nd real week at higher reps. My (proper form) Bench press and Dips are up. Squat form is getting better. Pull ups are improving slooooowly... Hoping some mental-health maintenance weeks will bring some interesting strength gains... a full plate, proper benchpress would be nice because I am very close.

Still to early to worry. After all, if it said 160, should I then worry that I might be burning muscle?
The wait continues. At least I'm hitting 1800 calories every day. I just don't know how many I'm burning.
....
12pm Oct 14: 160.7
Still too early for me to cut calories. I'd rather burn more than eat less. I can do twice as many sets if I don't go to failure on each one. I now know where failure is.
Shortly after dropping to 125g protein and replacing with carbs, I feel hungrier, though maybe that would have happened anyway. Maybe it takes 5 days for glycogen do reduce.
Or maybe my camned beans have 20% more calories than the lable says. I should weigh dry beans and boil my own. I have a pressure cooker.
...
8pm Oct 14:
I've decided to drop from "1800" to "1700". Food labels might be wrong. This might really be a drop from 1900 to 1800.
I also will try to get more moderate walking in to raise my calorie burn since some days are off days.
Oct 14 finished at 1700 easily. 160.7 is my new starting point.
...
Oct 16, 11am, after breakfast and 30 minute walk:
159 pounds.
This could easily be noise, but I feel encouraged.

Had a bad week 10.1 to 10.8, got it together the past 7 days or so for nice progress. Definitely looking leaner than my previous 199 weigh-in even. Striving to quit alcohol entirely as it makes me so much more likely to spiral out of control with eating. Also got my bike stolen so can't go for rides at the moment. Glad to see people making progress, goal for next week is 198.9 or lower.

Was carrying some extra water weight this week, which I think was triggered by my 2nd dose Covid vaccine. Today’s weigh-in was 1.1kg less than yesterday’s!
Waistline is definitely shrinking - I had to punch an extra hole in my belt this week to make it tight enough.
Really enjoying seeing everyone else’s progress - thanks for sharing in this thread!

under 200!!!!! stoked - i imagine next week will be slower than lately - been sick again and eating less - so i kinda feel like next week may be a break even week or even an odd, non-linear slight gain.....wont let it destroy me - but it would sure be nice not to EVER get above 200 for rest of my life.
y'all have a good week.
