Sorry no one seems interested in your thread OP... I'd answer the poll but I never learned how to do Olympic lifts.

I voted 'snatch' awhile back. I even posted about a muscle snatch progression, but deleted it for being off topic.

Although I half-suspect it's an innuendo, Olympic lifting might be fun to get into. I always thought it would be best to build up a good base of strength before branching off, but I might be about there now.

Tried overhead squatting once somewhat heavy without knowing the technique and crunched something in my lower spine... so I'll be sure to ease into it lol.

Dependent on my mood. I liked the snatch for its athleticism and the clean & jerk for "bragging rights" and its tonnage.

Going a bit off topic my favorite was the one armed snatch with an Olympic bar and plates. I started doing them to cure my tendency to "press out" during the snatch. (There's no "press out" with a one armed snatch :-) It also helped me to convert from a "split style" snatch to full squat.

I'm bit disappointed over the lack of interest in Olympic style lifting. I've always thought it to be a great balance of strength, speed and sport. I also liked the resultant physique. You didn't look like a body builder with bulging biceps. The results were more subtle, more like an athlete, like a gymnast.

Done properly, I'd say overhead squats are the most difficult and possibly the most beneficial of all exercises.

I agree. I prefer the weightlifter look over the bodybuilder look. A muscle snatch that turns into a power clean and push press when the weight gets too heavy to lockout and subsequently turns into a power clean when the weight gets too heavy to press and subsequently turns into a high pull when the weight gets too heavy to clean is my favourite exercise and will do anybody in. Each set is 3 EXPLOSIVE reps.

    One-hannded clean and jerk.

--The proper plural form of the Latin adjective biceps is bicipites, a form not in general English use. Instead, biceps is used in both singular and plural (i.e., when referring to both arms). The form bicep [sic], although common even in professional contexts, is considered incorrect. (from Wikipedia)

What does that have to do with bumping this thread?

Oh, is it just a masturbation reference? I guess then (with what's popular on both the misc and the main forums), everything. Anyway, this thread seemed due for its occasional bump, regardless.

Hard to tell but it looks like a 45(?), two 10 lb. bumper plates and a fiver; about 185 lbs total? But, whatever, very impressive!
