After a 5 year hiatus from weight lighting, due to life, I'm back at it.
And boy do I not miss the caloric deficit life...
What do you guys do now to stop being hungry?
5'11'', 33yrs old, 193lbs, looking to be 170-175 again with 10-13% bf.
1600 calories a day is killing me, and its only been 2 weeks...

well, 1600 calories is a tiny amount of food... so... gunna be hard to not be hungry man.
How fast are you losing weight? There's no reason to be at such a huge deficit... why not start at 2300 so you have some room to work with... you'll only be more hungry when you plateau and have to drop lower."When I die, I hope it's early in the morning so I don't have to go to work that day for no reason"

Veggies are your friend. Whenever I'm dropping weight, my plate is pretty much a bit of fat, a decent dose of protein, and a fat pile of veggies.
Sweet potatoes are also crazy in terms of being filling and nutrient-dense for very, very low calories.
Also, 1600 a day is very low. I dropped from 185 to 165 on 2000 calories 5 days a week and 2500 on weekends. I was still doing a decent bit of cardio so that played into it, but either way no wonder you're starving at 1600BP: 280

How long did it take? 4-6 months? I'm essentially "choosing" 1600 because it's grossly low, I can handle it, but some days I just need a little extra, so this way when I have a "cheat day", its only up 3-400 calories, which is still a suitable number. If I take a base of 2500 calories and it's not enough that day, i'm definitely over-eating.

Although I don’t recommend intermittent fasting, it makes like a lot easier when it comes to bringing down cals. The 16:8 timing is easy to pull off. You wanna stick with 1600 calories a day, sure no problem. Two 800 calorie meals. Your first meal will be so big that you’ll be bloated alfor hours then in the evening you can have your 600 calorie meal loaded with veggies and fiber to take up room in your stomach.
I don’t care for that style of eating much but it makes life way easier. Don’t expect to look like a bodybuilder doing it but it’s the closest you’ll get to a magic pill when it comes to calorie control.
I would have black coffee throughout the morning up until I’d eat in the early afternoon. This was also the best time to try using nootropics.

It took me just over three months iirc, right about 1.5lb/week on average. That was a solid rate, I felt fine and maintained a lot more of my strength on the way down than I'd anticipated.
I would really recommend bumping it up from 1600. That is very, very low, and you'll likely end up having some binge days as a result--or at least I certainly wouldLast edited by bLinkMoore; 09-02-2021 at 08:49 AM.

I agree with everything that's been posted above; good stuff.
I cycle calories weekly when cutting and that's helped me avoid getting burned out and angry from the dieting:
Example:
Week 1: 1,000 kcal/day deficit
Week 2: 500 kcal/day deficit
Week 3: Maintenance calories
Rinse/repeat. The weight doesn't come off as fast but I'm bearable to be around, my workouts don't suffer as much and it's more manageable for me."The Iron never lies to you. You can walk outside and listen to all kinds of talk, get told that you’re a god or a total bastard. The Iron will always kick you the real deal. The Iron is the great reference point, the all-knowing perspective giver. Always there like a beacon in the pitch black. I have found the Iron to be my greatest friend. It never freaks out on me, never runs. Friends may come and go. But two hundred pounds is always two hundred pounds." -Henry Rollins

Besides focusing on satiating foods (fibrous, watery, low sugar and high protein), I’ve found that upping calories every 3-4 days by a bit (around maintenance) helps reset whatever chemicals are causing the hangry feeling to build up enough to make the next 3-4 days of deficit easy. So calorie cycling.
But I’m like 70 lbs less than you and also eat 1600. You probably need to eat more on a regular basis.
