I’m debating spending like 500 on a mattress vs like 3GS.
If it’s just merely a comfort thing, might go cheaper.
But say; for instance, does 5 hours of sleep on a sick bed = like 7 hours of sleep on the floor in terms of quality ?
If a better bed can give me better sleep I can see it as a solid investment. But if it’s just a lil bit comfier, meh.
Or am I trippin

The answer is "yes," having a better mattress for you vs a poverty mattress will increase quality of sleep. That being said going from a cheap spring mattress to a pillow top or something similar in the $800 range should be enough to see the benefits. MAYBE spring for something in the $1,200 to $1,500 range if a particular mattress concept speaks to you.
I will never buy another cheap mattress ever in life but I also can't see spending $3,000 on one. To me its mainly just gimmicks at that price point.ALL I ASK IS ALL YOU GOT FOR AS LONG AS IT TAKES

The ability to sleep anywhere gives you better sleep. Sleep in chit conditions till you get used to it.
I have slept all night sitting up in a kitchen chair, subzero tempetures, under cars on a mechanics creeper, camping sleeping on lumpy ground.
A friend of mine was a engineer on a cargo ship and could sleep standing up he was a oiler back at that time, probably mid 1950's , he'd do his rounds oiling, light a cigarette, fall asleep, and when the cigarette would burn his fingers he'd wake up.
Once you master sleeping in chitty places you can sleep 10/10 on the most poverty matress.SPOT SOLD TO FROGTECH - 100% NATURAL GENETIC FROG FIBRES

Do not go cheap on mattress. Go with an expensive Hybrid Mattress as thick as possible with Pillow Top. A premium quality mattress will give you the best sleep of your life. I go Firm to Extra Firm because I do not like the sinking marshmallow type beds. Go to brands for me are Sealy, Serta and Beauty Rest.

A comfy bed is great for at night, but in the morning it can be terrible srs. But sleep is essential for everything in life, so it all depends on what your current quality is like.
I’d say a mattress’s comfort is important up to a certain point, but you reach a point of diminishing returns if you already have one that you can fall asleep on without any pain or discomfort. You can’t fix what isn’t broken, so if you’re already sleeping fine, buying ‘higher quality’ mattress’s doesn’t help you to sleep any better.
If you overheat easily, a cooling mattress might be a good investment. Just keep in mind that most of the extra chit that some manufacturers add onto their mattress is there to just get you to pay more rather than actually enhancing your sleep quality.Last edited by cojones539; 08-28-2021 at 12:25 PM.

Spent like $1,500 on a really nice hybrid mattress. Great sleep for the first 2 years no question.
But it’s going on three years now and it’s not as comfortable as when I first got it.
Starting to think the best route is getting a cheepish non-pillow top king size, and just puttting a memory foam topper on it. Then just replace the top every few years if you need to

Yeah that’s the cheap option I’m considering.
To all the bros suggesting memory foam, I don’t dig it- sleeps hot and isn’t good for my low back issues.
Thinking hybrid is the best play in the 1500 range. Feels hard to justify but if I get goat sleep it could help me a lot at work.
Also hate feeling my spouse move on my current mattress
Thx for replies.

Yeah, it's definitely giving me issues for the low back. So I've been side sleeping, which isn't ideal. I'm not sure why it bothers the low back, it's plenty firm, maybe that's the issue? I'm lean with a nice sized caboose.
At least Costco has a GOAT return policy, so I might pick one up.★★★ A State of Trance Crew ★★★

Yes.
I just turned 33. Been having sciatica issues. Sucks.
Decided **** it. Went from a 500 dollar Costco queen, to a 4k temperpedic king with motorized base.
It ****in rules. Would never go back. Helps my back to be able to fold the bed up with a remote. Love it.
Just go to a place like raymour and Flanigan. They will have every kind of bed set up to try out. I laid on like 15 beds before I chose.Sometimes I park in handicap spaces, while handicap people make handicap faces
