Getting back to the gym post back surgery

Almost 2 years after my back surgery (L4-L5 Herniated Disk) and I messed up after laying in bed literally a year after surgery and PT also covid just arrived at that time so that made things easier to just lay in bed and do nothing which slowed the recovery. Went back to exercising, jogging, swimming 6 months ago and my back has been way better since but I still have trouble sitting for a longer periods. I know I should be asking a doctor this and not asking for medical advice but just If some people had an experience like this and what did you do that made your lower back better or even fully recover?
Also to note why I'm making this thread is because I live in a trash country and most doctors who deal with this stuff are not the smartest. Big reason to why I even did the surgery was because I had to go to 4 different doctors before I got a correct diagnose. I had sciatica at that time and logically I thought It was something to do with my leg and only the 4th doctor figured it out that It was actually a herniated disk after he told me to do an MRI. Sadly It was too late and at that point the disk herniated so much that my leg was literally paralyzed and couldn't walk so I had to do the surgery. Every tip and advice is appreciated.
