Tom Mutaffis 3 Day Split Leg Day Adjustment

    Hi,

It's been years I am not active here, but here I am again, cause I got stuck at some point.

Leg day of this program is like this:

    Squat 4x5 - 6
    Stiff Legged Deadlift 3x8-10
    Lunge 2x10-12
    Split Squat 2x12-15
    Seating Calf Raise 3 x 12-15

Now, recently leg days started to be exhausting mentally and physically. I feel like I am about to take a TOEFL or some Ph.D final test before starting it. And, today I could not even START split squat. 2 weeks ago,I vomitted. Today, the overall training took around 1 hour 40 minutes-ish.

Weights for exercises: Squat BW x 1,65
Stiff Legged BW * 0,5 (Easily can increase this, but slow and concentrated type)
Lunge BW x 0,5 (I can barely breathe when I finish this, but today could not compete)
Split BW * 0,25 (From now on, I am half dead)
    Calf BW *0,8

Now, I want to fine tune a little bit. I do not want to drop the weights down if it is possible, cause for the first time I try to cut in a disciplined way since my diet was always ****. A moderate fine-tune would be fine; meaning that not only strength oriented, or only hypertrophy oriented; but a hybrid adjustment.

So my question, can I make squats 4x4, or should I reduce the accessory movements weight, or should I decrease the amount of reps in accessory movements to make things a little bit easier but still challenging?

I am not sure if Tom is around anymore, since the thread is years old. That is why I came here to post this.

    Cheers for your time

P.S: Not sure if this would contribute, but Deadlift: 4x4 BW x2 , Dumbell Bench Press: 3x5 BW.

Not even sure what a hybrid adjustment is, but how about just drop the split squats entirely, and keep everything else the same. It seems like after the lunges you hit a wall, so that would probably be a good place to stop for now.

Hybrid adjustment is a not a specific term, I just wanted to share what my focus is about adjusting like adjusting squat would effect strength side harder, or adjusting accessory movements hypertrophy side etc; and English not being native might mislead you. Sorry about that.

But won't dropping split squat entirely create some muscular imbalances or problems in the future considering the program has(should) its own balance and dynamics? I mean can i do that, like eliminate an exercise entirely?

    No problem, I understand.

But no, dropping split squats wouldn't cause an imbalance. You're already doing lunges. I personally probably wouldn't even do both in the same workout only because they're extremely similar movements. Split squats are basically lunges, but lunges you walk, split squats you stay in place.

Good luck with your cutting and the new program.

I'd do same general idea behind what MG5 said and see how it goes and adjust further if I needed to if it was me FWIW.
