    Are my abs Really that weak :O or is there another reason?

    So, I did my first full sit-up using a bare bell with weight on it to hold my feet down. tell now I was only doing 1/2 crunches, cause I had no won to hold my feet, and that was all I could do. To my embarrassment, and frustration I could only do 1 sit-up, and barely at that!

    Are my abs really that weak?!? I am 80 pounds over weight, most of that weight juts out in my belly area. My wife says you can hardly tell on the rest of my body. So, that question I have is.....

    Are my abs really that pathetically weak, or does having all that extra weight on the front of my belly make sit-ups that much harder to do?

    Both.. If you are 80 lbs over, it's not just on your gut. It's everywhere.

    Don't quit, plenty of ways to build core strength, not just with sit ups.

    Sit ups are not a great ab exercise. They can be hard on the low back also if the abs are weak
    If you don't get what you want you didn't want it bad enough

    Yes, I know sit-ups are not the best, its the only one I can do right now. And if you saw me you would agree, I am 80 pounds over and, it IS 80% on my gut. My gut sticks out like I am 8 month pregnant. It show a little over my body, but very little.

    P.S. In high School I did 100 sit-ups a day, but I also was 190 pounds, now I am 280.

    Sounds like you need time, and lot of patience. Adherence to lifestyle. Situps will not flatten your gut, like mentioned above. Switch to cable preacher curls, as part of your balanced resistance training routine.

    I am sure, whatever you miss in situps, will take back on bench press and deadlifts.
