DB OHP one arm at a time

Any drawbacks? Particularly with Arnolds. I can focus better on the rotation of each shoulder, get a better contraction, and can lift more weight (or at least more reps, I haven’t tried to add weight to the bells yet). I assume this is because I only have to stabilize half the weight (I’m not holding onto anything), but I still feel my core working and the overall movement is a lot less messy. I’m a lot more stable.

    Imbalances? Weaker core?

Go one arm at a time? Great idea, balance yourself by gripping the bench with freehand for balance. Do 12-15 reps with the right hand then do a straight set with the left hand. Switch when done etc.

I prefer not to hold onto anything actually, so I was wondering if that would create any problems with my low back down the line.

If you're able to maintain good form and avoid any excessive arching or leaning to one side, I'm sure you'll be fine. I could see it being beneficial actually because of the amount of core strength and stability this requires.

Different exercises work best for different people so if this feels great for you, I'd stick with it.

limited loading is definitely a con if you're trying to build your shoulders. Arnolds are a garbage exercise to begin with. Just do DB shoulder presses bruh. srs

Can’t, shoulder impingement only likes Arnolds. Pronation thru duration of ROM is a big no. I can load as little as 1lb per DB with my adjustables and micro plates, if that’s what you mean by limited loading.

It works, but Im not sure there’s any reason I should switch. My shoulder development has been great (with the exception of my left rear delt, but I think that’s an overactive traps issue)

Press on a high incline with elbows tucked. There’s no reason to be pronated with a DB

I guess it could work. Sounds a bit more injury prone though, especially as the weights go up.
