When we are sleeping, do we exist in another world?

I've communicated with some close people that were deceased when I was asleep. It's like the mind can cross into another threshold when you are in a sleeping state.

Inasmuch as the mind is prescient of metaphysical realities when awake, I could believe similar phenomena exist in sleep.

Dead people featuring in dreams is surely pretty common, but how can you definitively not ascribe it simply to the powerful emotions tied to the memory and experience of that person? Of course, to completely refute it would require a definitive case against the mind-body problem, which AFAIK doesn't convincingly exist.

Friends and family of mine who died randomly and before their natural old age feature in my dreams sometimes, but I won't be fast to draw conclusions about that.

There is an interesting lore about succubi and dream divination in general... would make for an interesting long-term project to study.

Were there not some murders that were solved because a family member of the deceased communicated with them and some information was passed in order to solve the crime and prosecute those involved.

I’ve often wondered, what if what we “think” is our reality is really a dream. And when we go to “sleep” that is our actual reality, but its such chaos that this dream we are in now is a way for our brains in the chaos world to take a mental break from the chaos and relax.

I’ve had some pretty inexplicable experiences while awake, such that I’ve accepted that I probably exist just before the threshold and occasionally on the threshold between two “worlds.” Dreams for me are clearly the manifestation of memories and traumas and stuff that I may have been thinking about before falling asleep, nothing super deep usually save for some rare uncanny premonitions, so I don’t think the two worlds theory is limited to unconscious dreaming. Or, at least for me, as relevant as the conscious experience of the divide.
