Bluebook was $3800-$5300 for this model. Put it at $5000 thinking that would get $4500 offers. Someone just came and paid the $5000.
Looking around at private party sales it looks like a good clean and a coat of armor all will pay heavy dividends in the poverty market right now.
The Acura was the hard one to price. Bluebook said it was only worth $2,500, but it was clean low miles and a new timing belt. With how quick it sold I probably could have got $4500ish.
Glad to have the Infiniti now though. Always wanted a 370z, but the G37x was a lot more practical with my family size and the AWD for the snow.Finance Degree - USAF INTEL - IIFYM - Injured Crew - KTM XCW300 - Single Track Trail Rider - NRA Supporter - Shunned from MFC - Libertarian - Pragmatist

So, you didn't bump this.
Turns out I was right. Even more so, my new car is used (way) more expensive than what I paid for it new. Manufacturers aren't even speeding up production anymore, they are throttling. They are keeping these prices so they end up with similar margins at the end of the year for way less cars having been sold and delivered. Because orders are still coming in, despite outrageous delivery dates.
And so I sold my 330e. I sold it for 3k less than what I paid for it 2.5 years ago. That is INSANE.
Car prices as a whole are not coming down too much anytime soon. Maybe cuck mobiles that nobody wants, but for decent cars you are paying one hell of a premium. Someone I know ordered the same car I did, sold it after one month because people were offering 20k over what he paid for it new. As long as this trend continues, there is no reason for these prices to come down.Permanent reminder that MBisonSon is a fgt => https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=181456073

Yes, I underestimated the stupidity of people and assumed normal folks would come to their senses earlier. But the only way to stop people from their own stupidity is to force them by making them simply unable to buy with interest rates.
I wasn't too far off anyway, you can see the jig is up, car salesman finally can't hide anymore that their sales are plummeting: https://www.reddit.com/r/askcarsales...h_of_december/

For me a car is such a personal thing that buying used is a real compromise. Buying new, you get a brand new car, hasn't had anyone else in it to fart in the seat, you can be sure about maintenance and how it's driven. People don't even follow maintenance schedules and even when followed they are a joke. Even severe service is barely the minimum. Really hard to find a nice, used car. Dealer might package that used car as like new but it isn't. The crap I've seen lately.
Just LOL @ Used cars. They want almost the price of a brand new one still, and if you finance it the interest rates are too high.
I have a brand new car on order. on it's way in It's just a commuter car really, but pretty stoked about it honestly. I already rented the same model car for a while about a year ago. So it's that same car but with all the premium packages.

As long as it takes longer than a month to have a new car made, used car prices will stay elevated. They are preying on people that need one now and can’t wait, which are a lot of people. I have noticed a slight drop in prices but no where near the norm before COVID.

You need to look into CPOs cuz you're misinformed. Inspection required to meet manufacturer standards. Have a mileage limit. All maintenance is completed before sale. Typically 2-3yrs old with 10k less than MSRP on $45k car. Owned by an old lady with 20k miles. You'd have to be dumb or not care about your parents money to spend 10k more for no reason. Not to mention the CPO would extend the manufacturer warranty longer than if you were to buy new. And all maintenance under the manufacturer warranty would be completed by the manufacturer before it even became a used car.

I work at a dealership. I do CPO certifications. Well did until my new position but I know how it works because of my position. Manufacturer standards are kind of like "mil-spec" and if you know, you know. Right now, CPO vehicles are going for just about as much if not more than new because they argue the warranty actually extends longer than a new car (3/36 reg 5/60 powertrain) and the CPO brings it to 100K. Plus, I'm looking at going much further than any warranty period. I have my reasons for wanting new, but it's not the same as most people.

I'm due for service after Xmas. I know they will prob send a salesman over. I test drove a few cars there a few months ago and they have been houndinggggg me non stop. I drove a 2022 gr86 (basically a brz) and a 2022 wrx and I really liked them both. The only reason I haven't pulled the trigger is because I can't decide which I liked better or want more. I'd have to order a brz but they have a 2022 wrx speccd exactly how I want it so the temptation is real.
