    Deadlifts after squats

The big debate deadlift on back day or leg day? Well for the first time I did deadlifts right front squats, it’s a match made in heaven, for me at least. Loved how it felt and especially the day after.

I guess that would work because you can't really front squat a lot of weight compared to the deadlift, so the squat would kinda be a warm up. I go deadlift/dips/hang squat/chins because you can hang squat a lot of weight, as much as a deadlift, in fact.

Do whatever feel right. There is no rule. Personally I never did DLs and squats on the same day. Too hard to recover quickly enough

For general training, there should be no real debate on squat/ dead on the same day, in fact I would suggest to switch the order every session. Squat/Dead, then next session Dead/Squat.

I dead-lift on it's own day and I'll tell you, trying to squat two days later does not work at all for me, my back is too tender.

For a powerlifter, they may want to do Squat/Dead because that's what they are gonna do in the meet.

Daily Undulating Periodization is the solution. Heavy deads and light squats. Light deads and heavy squats.

If it works for you, stick with it.

Usually when people do both in one workout, they'd do what someone else already mentioned in this thread - one of the exercises heavier, one lighter.

Years ago I always used to do them after squatting. People used to ask, don't I save DL for back day? But I always felt they were more of a leg exercise than a back exeercise. But now I have a recurring lower back injury, I can't do them any longer :-(
