I follow his YouTube channel and he seemed to be a nice guy. He would have his kids and wife on occasionally and his workout advice was always sound.

I’m 51 and can’t believe he passed at 49. I guess you never know...

The amount of gear those guys do affects them all in different ways. He had health problems for a while too.
The ones that die young were most likely predisposed to health issues and then you add the massive amounts of fertilizers they incorporate and it amplifies things greatly.
Some don't have issues at all.

It's really unfortunate to see John pass away. I've learned a lot about diet, exercise, and motivation through his YouTube channel. I never met him, but I'm sure he was a real standup guy in person. He had a family too. I just don't understand why somebody with so much going for them in life has to ride a bike as hardcore as he did, whilst knowing you have underlying health conditions. That's what makes his story tragic. Rest in Peace, John.

Addiction and the fact that these guys paint themselves into a corner when they parlay their roided physiques into a pretty decent living. Say he drops the drugs and ends up looking MUCH less impressive. Who's going to be watching his videos and buying his merchandise or coaching? I agree it's messed up to continue doing that when you could leave your kids without a dad so young. But it's also how he was putting a roof over their heads and food on the table. Catch 22.

Yeah I hear you completely, valid points for sure. All things considered though, do you really think John didn't have marketable skills outside of his physique? The guy lived and breathed coaching, teaching, and educating about fitness and nutrition. I just don't see why he HAD to have the juiced body. Just doesn't make sense to me. But like you said, addiction plays a large role in his untimely death. It's so sad to see a family left behind like this from the combination of drug abuse and accelerating underlying health conditions.

He definitely seemed like a very personable guy with marketable skills. It's impossible to say for sure but I gotta figure that once you get used to being your own boss and making a good living doing something you love in a pretty low stress gig, it'd be pretty hard to going back to grinding for someone else.
