    Tracking calories eating out

    Hey guys, how can we track calories eating out? Or do we just estimate it?

    Unfortunately if it's not a multi-national chain, you're unlikely to have any kind of reliable calorie info. You'll have to eyeball it, but if you estimate liberally and consider based upon the kinds of ingredients used and the quantity you're eating, it couldn't realistically exceed a highball if you are truly being mindful of portions.

    Even if they add hidden oil and stuff, it would taste disgusting or be soggy if it was more than you could realistically expect, so just assume it is what you could realistically expect or use things you do know the nutrition values for as references.

    I demand that the chef use a bomb-calorimiter on each ingredient. and let me know the precise calories and macro readings. this is the only way to be sure. of course this results in overly charred food but such is the life of a bodybuilder.

    A lot of chains publish calories. If not then I track something comparable (from a chain or supermarket) or failing that I just plain guess based on likely ingredients

    There are some vacation destination areas that rely heavily on tourism. Fishing and hunting can be the main tourist attractions. A lot of restaurants will cook whatever meat you bring in for you. Some of the restaurants will field dress it first. Most of the hotels in places like that have cleaning stations for fish and birds.

    You can somewhat track your macros and calories.

    Look online for places you like to go.

    Googling their name and the word Nutrition might pull up a calories chart for them.

    If you can get that, just figure out what you want and record it on your phone, so when you go there are no mistakes.

    You can try to hit that meals calories, or skip another meal and double them, or just have a Cheat Meal of whatever you want.

    If they have no nutrition chart it will probably have to be a cheat meal.
