Diet soda; WHAT IS THE CATCH??

It has zero calories, an example being diet pepsi but I always see the mentioned health risks of sucralose on forums, is there anything in diet sodas that could effect gains negatively? What's the catch with these zero calorie sodas?

If you are having 1 or 2 servings a day I would be very surprised if it was harmful, particularly if you have a healthy diet and exercise otherwise. That's based on my recent review of the artificial sweetener literature.

Why would it effect gains?

It will have zero impact.

As far as I know, the studies I’ve seen indicate no expected adverse effects even in pretty high amounts… in terms of general health

well yeah they won’t help your gains at all since they don’t have calories.

Well it’s acidic so it’s not great for your teeth

If you’re worried about artificial sweeteners there are sodas made with monk fruit and stevia. You can also make your own with a soda steam. There are all sorts of things you can do, herbal teas, fruit infused water even coffee.

There is nothing wrong with it, op.

Considering all the chemicals they put into everything else we eat, artificial sweeteners are no big deal. If you are worried about additives, there is always the option of eating only fresh meat, fresh vegetables, fresh fruit, and only drinking water.

yeah I used to have to go to Germany all the time for work pre-covid. its almost impossible to get non carbonated water in that country for some strange reason. Every where you go its water “with gas”, and yeah super uncomfortable bloating when you drink a lot of water. Even the water dispensers at the office put out water with gas. i would go to the convenience stores just to find bottles of non carbonated water, which was specified as “still”. they have to label it special, lol.

Yeah all of Europe is like that with sparkling water and I find it uncomfortable drinking it by itself and with food. Soda I like though - alone or with certain kinds of food - although I don't drink it much at all these days. I think all the corn syrup helps make soda go down smoother. As noted above, diet soda tastes like piss.

maybe their digestive systems are accustomed to all that beer, and plain water is uncomfortable to them, it lets their stomach deflate.
